After snapping their four-game losing streak, Atlanta will continue their home-stand to face off with an elite Golden State squad.
Atlanta has been struggling as of late winning three of their last 10 contests, while Golden State has been their usual selves winning seven of their last 10 contests. This will be the first matchup of the season between these two teams.
Golden State opened as 13.5 point road favorites, while the line has remained unchanged thus far. While they are double digit favorites, they also have about 84% of the public backing them.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State was able to hold off a feisty Washington team winning 109-101 in their second consecutive road game of their three-game trip.
With the way Houston has been playing, Golden State might have to win out to claim back the number one seed in the West.
Not surprisingly, this team has the number one rated offense in the league. On the road they rank 1st in PPG, 1st in FG% and 1st in 3PT%. They have shot 52% from the field in their last five contests.
On the defensive end they have been bringing the pressure as well as they have the 5th rated defense. On the road they’ve been giving up a decent amount of points ranking 24th in PPG, but they are contesting shots ranking 5th in FG% and 13th in 3PT%.
They are also cleaning up the boards ranking 9th in RPG.
This is the best team in the league that is about to face one of the bottom-feeders of the East.
The question is are they going to show up and give it their all in this matchup? Well, they may not give 100% in this game, but even their 80% is still good enough to take out Atlanta.
As mentioned above, Atlanta was able to snap their four-game losing streak by taking out the surprising Indiana Pacers 107-102. This is the time of year when teams start to tank and this Atlanta team is definitely in the running for the worst record.
They really don’t have too much going for them so I wouldn’t be surprised if they competed for that number one pick in the draft.
As you’d expect from a team that only has 19 wins, their offense is the 23rd rated offense in the league. At home they rank 23rd in PPG, 21st in FG% and 19th in 3PT%.
It is hard to imagine with those kind of numbers for this offense to keep pace with Golden State’s offense. Meanwhile, they’ve only shot 41% from the field in their last five contests.
Defensively they have been just as good as their offense with the 23rd overall rating. At home they rank 24th in PPG, 29th in FG% and 27th in 3PT%. At least for the sake of rebounding they have done all right ranking 11th in RPG.
Atlanta does play better in front of the home crowd, but again this is a bottom-feeder team facing the best team in the league. Not sure they have the mentality or motivation to show up and give Golden State a real fight.
The only optimism here is this will be Golden States third road game in six days.
NBA Betting Trends:
- GS is 17-4 SU in its last 21 games on the road.
- GS is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games on road vs. ATL.
- Under has gone 6-3 in GS last 9 games on the road.
- ATL is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games.
- ATL is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing at home against GS.
Free Golden State Warriors vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction: Golden State blows by Atlanta as they look to keep pace with Houston
Golden State needs to take the easy wins when they can get them if they want to take back the number one seed from Houston. Atlanta may show up for the first half, but Golden State should easily be able to pull away in the second half as I can’t picture with the way Atlanta has been shooting that they’ll be able to keep up with them.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Golden State -13.5
Just two teams who are in polar opposite spots; Golden State is trying to get the one seed, while Atlanta is trying to get the number one draft pick. Lay the double-digit points as Golden State should cruise to victory.
