Detroit didn’t do a whole lot of things positive in their 109-92 defeat in Phoenix last night. The shot just 7-36 (19%) from three and only hit 17 of 28 free throws (61%).
The Pistons will essentially trade Blake Griffin for Derrick Rose on Saturday night. Griffin played on Friday while Rose rested, and the two roles will likely be flip-flopped vs. Los Angeles.
Another blowout is very well possible as Detroit wraps up a long West Coast road trip in L.A. The Pistons have gone 0-3 so far, losing each game by at least 12 points.
The Pistons last win was against the Lakers however, 107-92 on January 28th. That defeat happened in the 5th game of a 7 game East Coast swing for L.A., and they got caught looking ahead to Boston.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers are in game 2 of a five game home stand that got off to a great start in the win over the Nuggets. Lebron James paced the way with 27, but overall it was a very balanced L.A. effort.
Los Angeles’ #1 defense also held Denver’s Nikola Jokic to just 13 points. The Lakers should have little trouble stopping a Pistons squad that has been held to 92 points or less in two of their last three.
Anthony Davis was quiet vs. the Nuggets with just 13 points, breaking a streak of three straight in which he poured in at least 23. Davis will get back on track vs. a Pistons squad that is 29th vs. the PF spot.
The Lakers are in a great spot to get a winning streak going, with two games with OKC upcoming and then a meeting with Memphis before traveling for a rematch in Denver.
