These teams have practically the same record but Detroit looks like a much better team to me. Charlotte gets to reside in a terrible division though so their playoffs prospects are much better.

These teams met last week and played a one pointer with Charlotte on the winning end. The Pistons will look to flip that on the road.

Detroit Pistons

Detroit has some obvious strengths but after a strong start under a new coach they seem to have reverted to old tendencies.

Their frontcourt can be dynamic and both Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond are tough to guard and seemingly able to co-exist. Griffin is one of those guys who seems destined to never have his talent really lift his team though.

Drummond is on pace to have his highest scoring average ever – 18ppg. He knows his place but he has even made a few three pointers, more than he has ever made in a season so he is developing, somewhat.

Reggie Jackson is the guy that more than any player needs to be better. He is never going to be the most efficient player on the floor but he has to make some gains for this team to move forward.

Detroit is one of the worst shooting teams in the league and even though they rebound with the best that catches up to you. You have to be able to put the ball in the basket.

Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets used another superlative performance by Kemba Walker to beat Cleveland the last time out. He had 30 points, the 9th time he has had that many or more in just 30 games. It was a good bounce back from a terrible game the time before (just four points, 2-13 from the field). .

Charlotte has more than Walker in the backcourt but they get next to nothing up front. There is not a single frontcourt player averaging even 10ppg and that puts a lot of pressure on Walker form game to game. It does not look like that is going to change either.

Everything about Charlotte says that they are a mediocre team.  They have that one great player and since he has the ball in his hands a lot he can be a huge difference maker but they are unlikely to get too high or low above .500 this season.
