Nuggets vs. Raptors Gameday
New Year’s Eve serves up nine matches on the hardwood, including the Denver Nuggets visiting the Toronto Raptors.
Both teams last played on Monday, with the Nuggets having a rough night as they lost 123-147 to the Heat, but more importantly, witnessed their superstar Nikola Jokic suffer a hyper extended knee.
In the loss, six Nuggets scored in double digits with Jokic leading the way (21 points, eight assists, five rebounds) despite only playing for 19 minutes.
Meanwhile, Toronto experienced deja vu as they once again found themselves down by double digits in the final frame and fought back to win in clutch time.
In the 107-106 victory over the Magic, seven Raptors scored in double figures as the bench rose to the occasion, and Jamal Shead led scoring with a career-best 19 points.

Denver Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors Odds & Last 5
For the past two years, the Nuggets have dominated this matchup, sweeping the series. This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this campaign.
Denver sits in the third seed with a record of 22-10 and is 2-3 through the last five. They’ve played very well considering they are missing three starters (Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun).
The Nuggets will now be without four starters heading to Toronto, with Jokic’s injury keeping him off the court for at least four weeks.
Through the last five matches, the Raptors are 2-3 while they sit in fourth in the East with a 20-14 record. This match marks the second contest of a five-game home stand.
Toronto is favored by seven points with an over/under of 226 points.

Denver Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors bottom line:
Clearly, missing the best player in the sport is going to be a problem, but without four starters, the Nuggets will be in tough to collect the win.
Denver has fared well without their trio of starters, but this feels like it’ll be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Fortunately, Gordon and Braun should return shortly, so this won’t be a long-term situation.
Toronto will need to make sure they bring the same energy they would if the Nuggets were healthy, or this could quickly turn into a trap game, given Jamal Murray will be home and looking to make a statement.
Denver Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors Basketball Betting Trends

- The total has gone OVER in 14 of Denver’s last 17 games.
- Denver is 8-4 SU in its last 12 games.
- Also, Toronto is 5-11 ATS in its last 16 games.

Nuggets Raptors Free Pick: Nuggets +7
Here is my Nuggets Raptors free pick. Coming back from double-digit deficits late for the second consecutive game is going to fuel the Raptors’ confidence, but they can’t take Denver for granted just because they are limping into Toronto.
For the Nuggets, not having four starters is far from ideal, but both Murray and Tim Hardaway Jr. tend to have big games versus the Raptors.
Jakob Poeltl has missed time due to a back injury and the Raptors advised he’ll be out for another week. In the interim, Toronto signed Mo Bamba to a one-year unguaranteed contract which will still allow them flexibility.
RJ Barrett sat out the second game of the back-to-back, but should be available on Wednesday again. His presence immediately seemed to settle the Raptors, who suffered offensively in particular while he was out.
Since Jokic will be out along with the trio of starters, this is a prime opportunity for Toronto to collect the win at home, but since they have a tendency to play down to their competition, I’ll take the points but the Raps to win.
