On Thursday, May 13th the Denver Nuggets continue their road trip in Minnesota facing the Timberwolves. It’s the third and final meeting of the clubs this season. The earlier matches on January 3rd (124-109) and January 5th (123-116) were both won by Denver who has a current 10-game winning streak on tap.
Last season, the squads played four times with the Nuggets sweeping the series. The Nuggets hold the all-time record having won 83 of the 132 played
After winning nine of 10 games the Nuggets fatigue has seemingly caught up to the Nuggets who’ve suffered three losses (Lakers, Jazz, Nets) in their last five games.
They remain in a battle with the Clippers to take the third seed, trailing LA by a single game in the win column with three games to play including this match as well as the Pistons and Blazers to close out the season.
In comparison, the Clippers will face the Hornets, Rockets, and Thunder with two of those matches likely easy victories for LA.
Moreover, it’s hard for the Nuggets to attempt to align themselves with the opponent they want although they’ll most assuredly try to avoid playing the Lakers in the first round.
The latter is more likely to finish in the sixth seed than the fifth seed, so it might behoove Denver to stay in the fourth seed and face the like of the Blazers or Mavericks.
As for injuries, Monte Morris (hamstring) is questionable while Will Barton (hamstring strain), PJ Dozier (adductor strain), are out. Jamal Murray (ACL) is done for the season.
So much for investing in the tank. The Wolves enter this match winners of six out of their last nine games. They’ve been beating both tanking teams (Rockets, Magic, and Pistons) and elite teams or ones headed for the postseason (Jazz – twice and the Warriors).
That choice was likely made based more on keeping their cornerstone talent – Karl-Anthony Towns happy and to show him – look if we’d been healthy we would playing this postseason.
It was a calculated risk to take since the Wolves’ first-round pick will be conveyed to the Warriors if their lottery balls fall outside the top three. In a draft class chock full of talent that might end up being a decision that haunts front office executive Gersson Rosas in retrospect.
As for injuries – – Malik Beasley (left hamstring) and Jarrett Culver (right ankle surgery) are out.

Free Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction:
Theoretically, this should be an easy win for the Nuggets but with the Wolves enjoying playing spoiler they’ll be tested and need to find a way to shut down KAT and rookie Anthony Edwards.
