Denver Nuggets
Denver will arrive in Minnesota having lost its four of its first five games, most recently to Phoenix on Friday, 106–103.
Thirty-one points from Jamal Murray and a near triple-double (one rebound shy) from Nikola Jokic was not enough. Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges all scored at least 20 points for the Suns.
The Nuggets miss Jerami Grant; that’s for sure. He’s now earning big money and putting up big numbers for a young Detroit team in the Eastern Conference.
That said, this is still a quality team with two stars, a good coach and quality role players. It’s only a matter of time before Denver starts winning games, so long as it stays healthy.
Michael Porter Jr. will continue to sit out, in line with coronavirus protocol. It leaves the Nuggets that much thinner on the wing.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Minnesota isn’t likely to make Denver pay for its lack of depth out there, however.
The Timberwolves have dropped three in a row following a 2–0 start. The losing streak has coincided with Karl-Anthony Towns’ injury.
Towns aggravated his previously injured left wrist and will stay out for this game and the foreseeable future.
The first two losses were by nearly 60 points combined but at least came against quality teams in the Lakers and Clippers.
Friday’s defeat came by another 21 points and to the winless Wizards at that. Bradley Beal scored 31 of his team’s 130 points and Russell Westbrook sat the game out.
Minnesota doesn’t have much for scoring without Towns on the floor. Former Nugget Malik Beasley led the way against Washington with 21 points. Naz Reid and Anthony Edwards had 17 each.

Free Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction: Wolves in the backdoor.
Denver should control this game well enough to win.
But don’t sleep on the Wolves, who are a live dog in this one. Minnesota does not have the talent but it will play hard for 48 minutes and find a way to finish inside the number, even if Denver leads big in the first three quarters.
