Thursday, April 1st finds the LA Clippers hosting the Denver Nuggets for the second time this season. The first meeting occurred on December 25th with the Clippers prevailing 121-108.

Denver Nuggets
The revamped Nuggets squad featuring Aaron Gordon and JaVale McGee are unbeaten in their two games. While that’s an extremely small sample size the manner in which the Nuggets are netting these victories is telling.
It’s the defensive improvement that stands out as Denver held the Hawks to 102 points and the 76ers to 95 points. In the latter victory, the offense which was always strong ran smoothly as opponents now have to contend with numerous scoring options on the court.
Denver jumped on the 76ers with an opening frame of 44 points and did let their foot off the gas but was able to lockdown Philly when it mattered.
Jamal Murray led the way with 30 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Nikola Jokic registered a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds with five assists.
Michael Porter Jr. added 27 and Paul Millsap chipped in with 10 points as the other double-figure contributors.
Aaron Gordon followed up a 13 point debut with six points versus the 76ers but his defensive presence was the bigger takeaway. It’s also clear as Gordon gets more practice time Jokic and Murray will figure out the best way to integrate him into the offense.
JaVale McGee has yet to make his Nuggets debut. Monte Morris (quad) and Greg Whittington (knee) are both day-to-day.
LA Clippers
Just as the Clippers seemed to have turned a corner registering a six-game win streak old habits popped up as they let the lottery-bound Magic squad defeat them, and do it via a 17-3 late-game run.
LA got out to a strong start holding the Magic to 13 first-quarter points and led 51-37 at the half. But, Orlando dominated in the second half 66-45 to capture the 103-96 victory.
The major issue was the bench production for the Clippers who were outscored 56 to 20.
Kawhi Leonard led the way for the Clippers with 28 points, five rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Ivica Zubac registered a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Luke Kennard and Reggie Jackson added 17 and 15 points respectively as the only other double-figure scorers for the Clippers.
Marcus Morris (calf), and Rajon Rondo (adductor) were out Tuesday. Paul George (foot), Serge Ibaka (back), and Patrick Beverley (knee) have missed two, nine, and 10 games respectively. All five are listed as day-to-day.
