Denver Nuggets
Denver finishes the remainder of its schedule prior to the All-Star Break with four games on the road.
The first one went well on Saturday night, a 126–96 victory in OKC. Nikola Jokic played a masterpiece of a game, recording a triple-double without a turnover in 30 minutes.
Jokic needed just ten shot attempts, plus two free throws, to scored 19 points. The center had 13 dimes and the other four Denver starters all hit double-figures.
Jokic will almost inevitably get overlooked in the MVP vote this season but there may not be another player who does more for his team at a higher level.
The numbers are staggering but watch a Nuggets game and you’ll see just how much the offense runs through Big Honey.
At the moment, his biggest challenge to winning this year’s award is that Denver is just the eighth seed in the West.
The thing is, without Jokic, Denver wouldn’t be anywhere near contending.
Chicago Bulls
Wendell Carter Jr. will be the primary option to play Jokic. The seventh pick in the 2018 NBA Draft has played in each of his team’s last seven games after missing a chunk of the year with an injury.
Carter may be playing out of his league in that matchup and what’s scarier is the Bulls don’t have much depth behind him.
Luke Kornet has no business playing Jokic. Patrick Williams could be an option but the rookie is undersized. Thaddeus Young is not a good defender.
Chicago would have finished with a winning record in February, regardless of the outcome in its final game of the month in Toronto on Saturday night.
That game was not played due to corona concerns on the side of the Raptors. So the Bulls got out of a back-to-back spot here and officially finished February 8–6.
Zach LaVine is an All-Star for the first time in his seven-year career and the honor was well-deserved. His scoring has been a revelation for Chicago, which, like Denver in the West, is in the final playoff spot in the East (tied).
NBA Betting Trends:
- Nuggets are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 Monday games.
- Over is 6-0-1 in Nuggets last 7 Monday games.
- Over is 15-3 in Nuggets last 18 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
- Bulls are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
- Over is 6-1 in Bulls last 7 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Head to Head: Over is 19-7 in the last 26 meetings.
Free Denver Nuggets vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Prediction: Chicago makes it a running game.
The Bulls have no answer for Jokic so their best chance here is going to be trying to run the big man.
Chicago will push the pace and try to get Denver into a shootout that could go either way.
The Nuggets are good on Mondays (see trends) but they feel like a square play in this spot, much as I don’t see how Chicago contains the Joker.
So play the over instead. These two teams like going over and the total is surprisingly attainable in a game that has potential to go stupid high.
