Monday, December 6th, finds the Denver Nuggets facing the Chicago Bulls in their second and final meeting of this season. In the initial meeting on November 19th, the Bulls won the match 114-108.
Both teams last played and won on Saturday with the Nuggets defeating the Knicks 113-99 and the Bulls taking down the Nets 111-107.
Last season, the teams played twice with Denver winning both contests. The Nuggets hold the all-time record having bested the Bulls in 55 of their 96 matches.
Denver Nuggets
This game marks the halfway point of the Nuggets seven-game road trip. They’ve collected two wins against the tougher competition (Heat, Knicks) and lost a trap game to the Magic. They’ll travel to New Orleans after this match followed by a pair of games in San Antonio.
In the victory on Saturday, the big man Nikola Jokic was a force with 32 points and 11 rebounds in his double-double along with five assists.
With the team mired by injury, reserve Zeke Nnaji stepped up to score 21 points off the Denver bench. Will Barton scored 13 while Jeff Green added 11 points as the other double-figure contributors.
Denver was lethal from the perimeter scoring on twenty 3-pointers of the 43 they attempted. That extra 24 points was needed with the Knicks getting a whopping 21 to 5 free throw advantage.
The Nuggets also won the rebounds (42 to 40), assists (30 to 23), steals (10 to 7) blocks (6 to 3), and fast break scoring categories (15 to 5). And while they had more turnovers (13 to 11) they scored more (17 to 11) off the Knicks miscues than New York did off theirs.
The Nuggets are hard hit by injury losing Austin Rivers, Bol Bol, and rookie Bones Hyland all to the NBA Health and Safety protocol program made them even sparser especially being on a long road trip. They are all expected to be out on Monday.
Jamal Murray (knee) is rehabbing from an ACL tear while PJ Dozier (ACL tear) and Michael Porter Jr (back) are out indefinitely.
Chicago Bulls
In the victory versus the Nets on Saturday, the two stars Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan made the largest impact but rookie Ayo Dosunmu made himself known to Brooklyn.
While LaVine was the top scorer for the Bulls with 31 (eight rebounds, six assists) it was DeRozan (29 points, six rebounds, three assists) who took over in the second half and specifically down the stretch either scoring or playmaking to get the best shot.
Nikola Vucevic and Dosunmu each pitched in 11 points but the rookie was flying on defense and had one spectacular point-back dunk off a missed shot.
Although the Nets won the majority of the key categories the one that cost them was free throws as they sent the Bulls to the line 27 times but took only nine.
Alex Caruso (hamstring) played on Saturday but left the game early grimacing and is questionable for this match. Patrick Williams (thumb) is out for the season.
Coby White is in quarantine recognizing the NBA health and safety protocols. Javonte Green missed the match on Saturday after testing positive for COVID-19 but isn’t on the injury report so maybe it was a false negative.
NBA Betting Trends:

- The Nuggets are 6-4 ATS in the last 10 head to head meetings
- Over Under is 9-1 in the team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Denver Nuggets vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Prediction
Both teams are missing players but the Nuggets are harder hit by injury — and to key personnel. That said, Denver has the best player on the court who will be salivating for a shot at Vucevic who isn’t up to the task of defending him.
It will all come down to whether Vucevic can get some help from his teammates as the Bulls (even with injuries) are deep and play a well-oiled system. Look for Aaron Gordon to be tasked with stopping DeRozan.
The two things that cause Chicago problems are backcourts with speed and talented bigs and um — the Nuggets have arguably the best one in the association.
