The NBA season kicks off tonight and in 1 of the 3 games the Cavaliers hit the road to face the Chicago Bulls. The Cavs eliminated the Bulls in the Eastern Conference semifinals last season and they are a 3-point road underdog tonight.
LeBron James has been hampered by a lower back injury, but he will go in this game, as will Chicago’s Derrick Rose, who has an eye injury.
The Cavaliers took 3 of 4 regular games from the Bulls last season.
In the preseason the Bulls were 4-4 and the Cavs were 1-6.
James will go tonight, but Kyrie Irving, who is coming off knee surgery is out, will not play tonight. At least King James will have Kevin Love, which he did not for most of the playoffs last season.
Last season the Cavaliers ranked 8th in the NBA in points per game and 13th in opponents points per game.
With Iriving out James may take a lot of the ball-handling duties, but the other PG’s of Mo Williams and Matthew Dellavedova have to play well and especially step up in the scoring department.
Last season the Cavs began the season 1-3 with the lone win coming in OT facing the Bulls in Chicago.
The Bulls are a very balanced team with the likes of PF Pau Gasol, G Jimmy Butler, PG Derrick Roce, and C Joakim Noah. They ranked 15th in the league in scoring last season and 9th in opponents’ points allowed.
Nikola Mirotic will get the start tonight with Noah coming off the bench, but these 2 guys can really hit the boards and the Cavs have to man up on them and not let them dominate the glass, especially the offensive glass.
With Irving out the Bulls really need to keep James and Love from having big scoring games. On the other side of the coin the Cavs will need their guards to shoot the rock well and take up some of the scoring slack with their All Star PG on the sidelines.
Last season the Bulls were 27-14 at home and the Cavs were 22-19 on the road.

Free NBA Prediction:
The Bulls are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games against the Cavaliers, but I do not see that trend continuing. James will have a big game in the season debut and the Cavs will win and cover the spread in a close game.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Cleveland ATS
Just like last season in the Windy City the Cavs will win the season opener.
