Cleveland wasn’t expected to put up much of a fight vs. the Bucks…and they didn’t. The Cavs offense has now been held to 105 points or less in six straight games, not good against the Suns’ #5 defense.
The Cavs are now 1-5 over their last six games, the lone win coming against equally bad Minnesota on the second leg of a back-to-back. Cleveland now has the 2nd worst scoring team in the league.
What’s so weird about the Cavs being this horrible is that they do have talent. Andre Drummond had 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Saturday’s loss to the Bucks and Jarrettt Allen went for 23 points and 18 rebounds when Drummond sat out last Monday.
Collin Sexton has also gone for 26 or better in three of the last six and Darius Garland has 17 or better in five of the last six. How is this team losing this much?
Phoenix Suns
Are the Suns vulnerable on the back-to-back? The win over the Celtics on Sunday was in Phoenix’ control most of the game, with the Suns running up a 17-point lead at one time.
Boston was playing shorthanded without Marcus Smart or Jaylen Brown, but Phoenix took care of business nonetheless. The Suns have now won 5 of their last 6 thanks mostly to defense.
It’s hard to see Cleveland putting up much of a fight against a Suns squad that has now held three of their last six opponents to 93 points or less. Phoenix has the 4th best scoring defense in the NBA.
Make no mistake, the Suns can score when needed too. Five players had at least 15 points vs. Boston, including Cam Johnson who hit 4 of 8 three’s for 17 points off the bench.
