Both teams are 4-2 to start the season. Orlando is a surprise with that record while Cleveland is a shock.
This is definitely a game that Orlando is supposed to win. I like the way Cleveland matches up though.
Both teams are looking to get the week, month and New Year off to a good start.
Cleveland Cavaliers
After back-to-back losses, the Cavaliers surprised over the weekend in beating Atlanta.
It was a low scoring affair and that is probably the best way for the Cavaliers to win this season.
The Cavs are a little weakened at the moment with injuries. Dante Exum actually made an appearance in the starting lineup against Atlanta.
Collin Sexton led all starters with 27 points but his Sexland colleague could not even muster ten points. Sexton can be a nasty scorer but Garland is still trying to develop.
Andre Drummond continued his run of double-doubles with 12 and 11 and they are going to need his defense against Nikola Vucevic.
Rookie Isaac Okoro was drafted as much for defense as anything but he is among the players out for this one. His absence is what opened the spot up for Exum.
When Sexton is scoring and Drummond is rebounding this team can remain competitive against the second-tier teams in the NBA and beyond.
Orlando Magic
The Magic started 4-0 then took losses to Philly and OKC. The first was expected, the second not so much, especially given they beat the Thunder the week before.
This is the first of two games between these two teams back to back in Orlando. I am still monitoring these situations around the league to see if there are any trends there.
The obvious note from the Magic’s recent losses is that the offense disappeared. In their four wins, they scored at least 113 points in each. In the losses they did not even crack 100. Their strong offense did not seem sustainable, still, the dropoff was dramatic.
Cleveland is a solid matchup for the Cavs because they are hardly a dynamic offensive team. If the Magic are still sluggish on offense they should still be able to stay in the game.

Free Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic NBA Prediction:
More and more I am liking the Cavs. Though the fact that they are shorthanded gives me some pause. I will take them as underdogs in this one though.
I am looking for Cleveland to be able neutralize them up front. Jevale McGee has actually been good for them, plus Drummond
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Cavaliers ATS.
If the frontcourt plays to a stalemate than Sexland can bring it home for the Cavs. Or at the very least keep it close.
