Monday, December 6th finds the Cleveland Cavaliers facing the Milwaukee Bucks for the first meeting between the clubs this season.
Milwaukee last played Saturday trouncing the Heat 124-104 and have won nine of their last 10 games (Raptors were the lone loss). The Cavaliers played Sunday in a closely contested battle they lost by a single point (109-110) to the Jazz which was their first loss in five games.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Bucks taking all three contests and holding a seven-game winning streak against the Cavaliers dating back to March 24, 2019. The Bucks hold the all-time record with 127 wins in 221 matches versus Cleveland.
The size of the Cavaliers is causing many teams fits trying to get past their huge frontcourt into the paint for scoring or to beat them on the glass.
The Jazz were pushed on Sunday and needed Rudy Gobert to battle in order to cement the victory. Darius Garland continues to ascend as a leader and was the top scorer for Cleveland with 31 points, four rebounds, five assists, four steals, and a block.
The Cleveland Towers each registered double-doubles with Jarrett Allen posting 17 points and 10 rebounds plus two steals and two blocks. while Evan Mobley offered 14 points and 12 rebounds plus three assists, a steal, and a block.
Ricky Rubio (15) and Cedi Osman (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
The game was highly entertaining with four blocks occurring in clutch time – Garland blocked Conley, Mobley blocked Mitchell and Gobert blocked Garland twice.
Unlike the Bucks, the Cavaliers only have two players on the injury list – Dylan Windler (back) who is questionable for Monday and Collin Sexton who is out for the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL.
Giannis Antetokounmpo missed his second consecutive game on Saturday but it didn’t matter as the Bucks’ depth overpowered the injury-depleted Heat.
Six Bucks reached double-digit scoring with Pat Connaughton leading the way producing 23 points. Bobby Portis registered a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds plus three assists, two steals, and two blocks as he was unfettered with no Adebayo or Butler to contend with.
Jrue Holiday provided 16 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and a block while Khris Middleton scored 22 points adding six rebounds and nine assists.
DeMarcus Cousins (11) and Thanasis Antetokounmpo (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
Giannis (calf) is questionable for Monday as are George Hill (knee), and Grayson Allen (illness). Cousins is listed as probable.
Semi Ojeleye (calf) was downgraded to out and he’ll join Donte DiVincenzo (ankle) and Brook Lopez (back) who are out indefinitely.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Bucks are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
- The Bucks are 8-2 in the last 10 head to head
- Over Under is 3-7 in the teams last 10 head to head matchups
- The Cavaliers are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games.
- The total has gone under in 13 of Cleveland’s last 20 games.
- The total has gone over in 4 of Milwaukee’s last 5 games.
Free Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction
Much will depend on who plays because having Giannis Antetokounmpo and Cousins to counter the Cleveland Towers is imperative for Milwaukee to be competitive.
Another intriguing factor is the Bucks are 8-4 at home while the Cavs are 8-4 on the road but are 2-2 on second games of back-to-back sets.
That stat isn’t very helpful given the losses were by nine and 15 points although the opponents were the Suns and Warriors while the wins were against the Hawks and Celtics.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Cavaliers +8.5
I’m assuming Giannis plays after taking five days off since taking a knee to his calf versus Charlotte.
His presence makes all the difference so I’m going to bank on him playing Monday with Milwaukee winning the game but I like the Cavs to be closer than 8.5 points and if Giannis is upgraded to being out take the Cavaliers to win too.
