Saturday, January 9th finds Central Division rivals the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Milwaukee Bucks meeting for the first time in the 2020-21 campaign.
The Bucks hold the all-time record between the clubs with 124 wins in 218 meetings. Last season, the teams played three times with Milwaukee sweeping the regular-season series and own a current four-game winning streak over Cleveland.
Cleveland Cavaliers
This match marks the sixth and final match of the Cavaliers’ longest road trip of the season as they limp into Milwaukee with a potential seven players unavailable.
The starting backcourt of Collin Sexton and Darius Bazley who were key to the Cavs’ hot 3-0 start to the season were both missing in the win versus the equally injury-depleted Memphis Grizzlies.
Cleveland ranks 29th offensively reflected in the fact they’ve missed the century mark in the past six games. Their top-ranked defense is what is keeping them in matches.
In the win over Memphis, Andre Drummond led the team with a double-double of 22 points and 15 boards. Larry Nance Jr. (18), Cedi Osman (16), and JaVale McGee (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
Collin Sexton (ankle) missed the last match is questionable for Saturday. Darius Garland (shoulder) Kevin Love (calf), and Dante Exum (calf) are out until mid and late January and March respectively.
Dylan Windler (hand), Matthew Dellavedova (concussion), and Kevin Porter Jr. (personal) are all out indefinitely.
Milwaukee Bucks
On the front side of a back-to-back series, the Bucks fell to the Utah Jazz giving up their most points this season (131). Utah had their offense clicking everywhere against Milwaukee.
The Bucks defense allows teams to shoot from the perimeter in favor of protecting the paint. But that strategy allowed the Jazz to connect on 25 perimeter shots with a blistering 47.2 percent efficiency.
The Jazz married this with an abundance of pick and rolls in the paint either scoring at the rim (40 points) or whipping the ball out to the open perimeter shooter. The loss halted the three-game win streak by Milwaukee.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 35 points and eight rebounds but had to battle after taking a tough fall that initially sent him out of the game for a short stretch.
All five starters reached double-digits with Khris Middleton registering a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds. Jrue Holiday (17), Brook Lopez (12), and Donte DiVincenzo (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
Pat Connaughton has missed the last three games with a groin injury and is questionable for Saturday while Torrey Craig will be out until mid-January with an injured nose.

4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Bucks ATS
While it would seem like this should be an easy victory for Milwaukee the fact Cleveland has the rest advantage could factor. Their defense has kept them in matches so the over/under of 15 points seems excessive. Still — Milwaukee hates to lose consecutive games and will be fired up to get back on track.
