Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head last year, the Hawks took the series two games to one, while this campaign the Cavs lead the series 2-1.
Cleveland has won four in a row and six of seven, but was lucky based on their easier schedule. The Cavs sit in the fourth seed with a record of 51-29. They trail the Knicks by a single game and can’t finish any lower than fourth with their six-game lead over the chase pack.
Atlanta fell to sixth with the loss on Wednesday, moving their record to 45-35. The Hawks are even with the Raptors, but Toronto owns the tiebreaker. The Hawks have a one-game lead over the Magic.
The Hawks are favored to win by 7.5 points with an over/under of 233.5 points.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks bottom line:
Both clubs are intent on moving upward, but time is running out.
Cleveland has two games remaining, with the fourth-easiest remaining strength of schedule. Opponents are the Hawks and the Wizards.
Atlanta has work to do as they vie to get the best seed in the fifth through 10th seeds. They also have two games remaining with the seventh-hardest strength of schedule, and will face the Cavs and the Heat on closing night.

Cavaliers Hawks Free Pick: Cavaliers +7.5
Here is my Cavaliers Hawks free pick.
Both clubs should be motivated to win this match, with the Cavaliers only a game back of the Knicks, while the Hawks are in a dogfight with the Raptors to grab the fifth seed. Ironically, the Knicks and Raptors are playing each other tonight.
I’m not sure if it’s gamesmanship, but the Cavaliers are listing Jarrett Allen, Donovan Mitchell, Thomas Bryant, and Sam Merrill as out until April 12th (ie: closing night).
Entering this week the Cavaliers were in desperate need of getting their new core reps as James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen have only played 76 total minutes together (per John Shuhmann).
It’s odd they would rest those players, given they only trail the Knicks by a game with two to play. Although the Knicks own the tiebreaker, if Cleveland wins both games and the Knicks lose both, the Cavs would move up to third and gain homecourt through the first two rounds.
Based on reports out of Cleveland, Kenny Atkinson has elected to put his focus on rest over placement so his squad is healthy for Game 1 of the playoffs. However, this could also be a tactical move to try to position themselves to face the Hawks instead of the Raptors (who have owned them this season).
Regardless, I’ll take the Cavaliers and the points.
