On Sunday, February 28th, the Chicago Bulls meet the Toronto Raptors for the first time this season.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Raptors taking all three games and possess a 12-game win streak going back to March of the 2016-17 season. The Bulls hold the all-time record having won 48 matches of the 92 played.

In recent weeks, the Chicago Bulls have experienced a surge in gameplay resulting in a 5-2 record through their last seven games. It also led to the inclusion of Zach LaVine on the All-Star team.
With teams so tightly bunched at the bottom of the playoff ladder in the East, and the Bulls’ recent success they’ve bounced on and off the ladder.
Currently, Chicago ranks eighth but one game separates seven teams including today’s opponent the Raptors who reside in fourth.
In their most recent game, the Bulls held a double-digit lead over the Suns but ended up losing the match when Phoenix outscored them 32-16 in the fourth quarter sparked primarily by Bulls’ turnovers.
LaVine led Chicago with 24 points, and turnovers (5). Coby White (19), Thaddeus Young (13), Tomas Satoransky (12), and Luke Kornet (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
Dario Saric (ankle) missed the game Friday and is questionable for Sunday. Chandler Hutchison (personal) is out indefinitely.
Lauri Markkanen (shoulder) and Otto Porter Jr. (back) won’t return to action until after the All-Star break.
Toronto Raptors
While players have dealt with COVID-19 health and safety protocols all season the Raptors are the first team to have their coaching staff decimated by the virus.
Nick Nurse and five of his coaching staff all entered quarantine along with Pascal Siakam which had social media aflutter wondering if Kyle Lowry would assume the player-coach role.
Coincidentally, assistant coach Sergio Scariolo had been on an excused absence with the Spanish National team he coaches and returned just in time to assume the helm.
With the international experience and FIBA 2019 championship, Scariolo is more than capable of carrying the coaching load until Nurse and co. returns.
It’s likely Siakam worked closely with the coach who tested positive which led to him having to quarantine due to contact tracing and is expected to be out through the All-Star break.
If the virus was going to hit a team this is arguably the best timing (and of course the hope is everyone is healthy and safe). Including this match, Toronto has three games remaining (Pistons, Celtics).
Kyle Lowry, Norman Powell, and Fred VanVleet stepped up in the absence of Siakam and the coaches.
Lowry registered a triple-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, Powell dropped 30 points and VanVleet offered 25 points with five 3-pointers.
