Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets handed Milwaukee its second straight loss on Saturday night, 126–114.
LaMelo Ball set a new career-high with 27 points and he did it in an efficient manner. He shot 8-of-10 from the field and made all nine of his free throws. Ball dished out nine assists, got four steals and turned it over just once himself.

That sort of performance off the bench, plus Gordon Hayward’s 27 was enough to overcome 34 points and 18 rebounds from Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Malik Monk, who has been in and out of the lineup all season, played in his third game of the row for just the second time this season and scored a season-high 18.
Monk was a double-digit scorer in his third pro season last year but he’s taken a step back this year with his trouble staying healthy. He gives Charlotte extra shooting where it needs it off the bench.
A final note: it appears Bismack Biyombo was a healthy scratch against the Bucks. He had started 16 games in a row before playing just nine minutes off the bench three games ago and just over five two games back.
Starting center Cody Zeller took advantage with 15 rebounds and seven assists in nearly 35 minutes of playing time.
Miami Heat
Miami was also in action on Saturday night, earning a 105–104 win over the Sacramento Kings.
After missing ten games in a row, Jimmy Butler returned to the lineup for the Heat and dropped 30 points, eight rebounds and seven assists without committing a turnover.
Butler made a living at the free throw line (14-for-16), which is where the Heat won the game. Sacramento shot the ball better from the field, especially from three, but Miami made 22-of-26 free throw attempts, while Sacramento shot a paltry 5-of-11.
Goran Dragic missed his third consecutive game with a groin injury but he’s just day-to-day, which means Miami is as close to getting back to full strength as it has been all season.
It will need to pass four teams and two games in the standings over its final 17 games of the regular season to sneak into the Eastern Conference playoffs.
A win over Charlotte would be a good start. The Hornets are tied for the eighth-seed in the conference going into Sunday.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Hornets are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Monday games.
- Hornets are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
- Heat is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
Free Charlotte Hornets vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction: it’s close.
Miami will catch some public betting action here with a win under its belt and Butler back.
But it may not be as easy as backing the Heat. Charlotte has proved tough all season and Miami is far from back in stride.
I see this game staying close and ultimately going either way. If Charlotte gets five or six points on the road, it will be good enough to play.
