Saturday, November 27th finds the Charlotte Hornets facing the Houston Rockets for the first time this season. The Rockets are riding a bit of a positive wave having collected their second win of the season on Wednesday versus the Bulls (118-113).
Charlotte is playing a back-to-back set having hosted the Wolves and beating them 133-115 on Friday.
Last season, the squads played twice with the Hornets winning both contests and holding a three-game win streak versus Houston going back to the 2019-20 season. The Rockets hold the all-time record having bested the Hornets on 46 occasions of their 63 matches.
The Hornets feasted on Friday versus the Wolves with neither team applying much defense. All five starters and two reserves scored in double-figures with Kelly Oubre Jr. leading the way with 27 points.
LaMelo Ball offered a double-double effort of 10 points and 13 assists plus six rebounds, and one steal. Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges each scored 18. Hayward was extremely efficient adding six rebounds, six assists, and three blocks in just 27 minutes.
PJ Washington returned to the lineup on Wednesday after missing 10 games due to an injured elbow. Although he only played 6:15 in his first game and didn’t score he was effective in this match with 17 points. six rebounds, and an assist.
None of the starters logged more than 29 minutes. Jalen McDaniels took advantage of his extra playing time registering 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Hornets hit 23 deep balls shooting on a ridiculous 57.5 percent efficiency and collected 32 assists.
Mason Plumlee (calf) is questionable for Saturday.
Getting a win – any win is welcomed by the Rockets and the fact it came against an elite team like the Bulls made it all the more enjoyable. And when eight players score in double-digits it lets the entire roster feel good.
Danuel House Jr. was the high Rockets scorer with 18 points hitting all four of his 3-points shots. Christian Wood collected a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds plus six assists.
Kevin Porter Jr. (14), Alperen Sengun (13), Garrison Matthews (12), Armoni Brooks (11), Eric Gordon (10), and even Jalen Green (11) scored in double-digits although the latter only played 11 minutes before being forced from the game with an injury to his leg.
The Rockets have listed Green as out indefinitely. John Wall continues to be a healthy DNP as the Rockets search for a trade partner for him.

Free Charlotte Hornets vs. Houston Rockets NBA Prediction:
The Hornets have won eight of their last nine games and although they are a more fatigued team it’s difficult to imagine the Rockets winning back-to-back games when it took them 18 games to win two.
The Hornets cover the spread on the road in 41.6 percent of their opportunities while the Rockets cover the spread at home in only 28.5 percent of their opportunities.
The only hesitancy in Charlotte winning and covering is they have a tendency to stop playing defense in games where they get out to big leads. That said, I’m more confident in the Hornets accomplishing that goal than I am in the Rockets replicating what they did to Chicago.
