It is a battle between two teams on opposite spectrums as the Brooklyn Nets host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. The Nets have won 18 of their last 21 games, moving them securely into 2nd place in the Eastern Conference. Houston is currently 2nd to last place in the Western Conference and holds the 2nd worst best record in the NBA after losing to Memphis Monday for their 33rd loss on the year.
These teams played earlier in the month on March 3rd in what was James Harden’s first game back in Houston. The former MVP and franchise player dropped a 29 point, 14 assist, 10 rebound triple-double in a dominating performance. The Nets won the game easily 132-114.
Brooklyn Nets
With victories in 18 of their last 21 games, Brooklyn enters this contest as one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Their only losses during the streak came against Dallas on February 27, Orlando on March 19, and the Utah Jazz 118-88 on March 24th.
The Nets have struggled of late with the absence of key players. Kevin Durant hasn’t been featured in the last 20 outings and Kyrie Irving won’t be available until after the Rockets game due to the birth of his first child. James Harden has relatively played in every game and has been carrying the load in their absences.
Brooklyn played Monday and won 112-107 at home versus Minnesota. Harden once again carried the majority weight and has continued to propel himself into the MVP conversation. The reigning scoring champ scored 38 points, dished 13 assists, and pulled down 11 rebounds for his 12th triple double of the season.
Irving is averaging 28.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. Harden is averaging 26.4 points per game since joining Brooklyn and is also averaging 8.9 rebounds and 11.4 assists per game. Kevin Durant remains out with his calf injury.
Brooklyn is the No. 1 scoring team in the NBA, averaging 120.2 ppg. They are allowing 115.2 points per contest, 26th overall.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets finally ended their historic 20 game losing streak on March 22nd with a win over the Toronto Raptors. The team that once showed potential early in the season is now tied for the 2nd worst record in the league.
At the Thursday trade deadline the Rockets dealt Oladipo, who they acquired in the year in the James Harden trade, to the Heat for a package of Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, and a pick swap — an alarmingly weak package for a player of Oladipo’s caliber. They also traded Rodions Kurucs and P.J Tucker as the once talented roster appears to be completely depleted.
Christian Wood missed the last game due to illness and unsurprinsgly the team lost once again in his absence. He continues to be the teams best player and completely changes the potential of the Rockets whether he is or isn’t in the lineup.

Free Brooklyn Nets vs. Houston Rockets NBA Prediction: over.
Despite the Nets recent struggles to cover they are still winning. This is a championship caliber team that recently acquired former Alll-Stars Blake Griffen and LaMarcus Aldridge as both agreed to join the Nets after being let go by their previous teams.
Meanwhile, Houston was dealing at the deadline and let two of their better players, PJ Tucker and Victor Oladipo, leave for practically nothing.
These two teams are both clearly committing to their goals: Brooklyn a championship, Houston a high draft choice and future assets.
Take Brooklyn to win this one with ease at home.
