Friday, December 10th, finds the Brooklyn Nets facing the Atlanta Hawks in their second meeting of the season. In the initial match on November 3rd, the Nets won 117-108.
The Hawks have been off since Monday following their 121-110 defeat of the Timberwolves. The Nets who’ve feasted on sub .500 teams elected to rest Kevin Durant against Houston and it cost them the win.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Nets taking two of the three contests. The Hawks hold the all-time record with 102 wins in 186 matches.

Back in Houston James Harden got a nice ovation but his performance didn’t exactly channel his old efforts the Toyota Center was used to. Well, that’s not entirely true as he got to the line for 16 free throws hitting 14.

LaMarcus Aldridge was also held out (along with KD) for sanctioned rest. Something Steve Nash has wanted to do since Durant has been playing so many minutes this season.
This wasn’t just a bad loss by the Nets as the Rockets were missing their number two draft pick Jalen Green, as well as Kevin Porter Jr. and Danuel House.
Atlanta Hawks
Last year the Hawks were among the best offenses utilizing all areas of the court. Trae Young orchestrated the playmaking dishing to wide-open perimeter snipers, throwing up lobs for Clint Capela and John Collins or running the pick and roll. All with equal aplomb.
They haven’t been as successful this season but are improving in recent games. In Minnesota, they channeled a performance similar to last season and the key may have been ball movement.
Head coach, Nate McMillan was on this squad to improve their ball movement and with the Wolves putting more emphasis on protecting the paint it offered wide-open shots for Atlanta who drilled 25 of 49 for a robust 51 percent efficiency.
Young led the scoring with 29 points and registered a double-double with his 11 assists. Timothe Luwawu -Cabarrot who has struggled this season had a big night connecting on seven 3-points leading to 23 points.
Danilo Gallinari offered 20 points as the top reserve.
Cam Reddish (wrist) has been upgraded to probable for Friday. Bogdan Bogdanovic (ankle), DeAndre Hunter (wrist), and Onyeka Okongwu (shoulder) are out indefinitely. Solomon Hill (hamstring) is lost for the season.
