For as much as the revamped Celts are struggling, they’ve maintained a 3-point shooting (take the second most shots from deep) and low turnover identity as they rank first in fewest turnovers.

76ers Stats

Philly ranks first offensively (121.3), 23rd defensively (116.6), while producing the ninth-best net rating (+4.7), running a pace of 101.11, which ranks 18th overall.

With the starting backcourt feasting to start the season, ball movement is quickly becoming the identity of this revamped squad. Tyrese Maxey is averaging 33.2 points on 23.2 field goal attempts per game, while VJ Edgecombe is averaging  16.3 points on 14.3 attempts.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers bottom line:  Since his hot start, VJ Edgecombe is getting opponents’ game plans to take him out of the match.

Here is my Celtics 76ers free pick.  Likely, Joel Embiid will play after resting in the back-to-back set on the second night. That’ll make for a more competitive match with problems for Boston to stop the big man.

Philly’s 3-point offense had been on fire shooting over the league average every game until they ran into Toronto and fell below average. Boston allows opponents to shoot 35.9% from deep.

Boston has slowly improved as the season progresses, but it will have to accept that this version (even when Jayson Tatum returns) isn’t a fully structured title team. Still, they will give everyone in the East a battle given their championship mettle.
