Friday, January 22nd the Philadelphia 76ers will play host to the Boston Celtics for the second time in three days. Philly won the initial match 117-109.

In truth, Embiid was simply that good on this night and Smart is wisely (no pun intended) planting seeds because the teams play again Friday.
In the loss three players scored 20 or more points including Daniel Theis with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds as well as Jaylen Brown (26) and Marcus Morris (25).
Kemba Walker continues to slowly work his way back to form. Walker was sharp in this outing with 18 points and eight assists punctuated by his five 3-pointers.
Aaron Nesmith (back spasms) and Tacko Fall (ankle) are questionable for Friday
Carsen Edwards and Jayson Tatum are dealing with the COVID-19 protocols with neither expected to play against the Celtics. Romeo Langford (wrist) is also out.
Philadelphia 76ers
When Joel Embiid played like he did in the match Wednesday he is arguably the best player in the NBA.
His dominance in the match was reminiscent of how he played in clutch time of the last All-Star game when not even Anthony Davis, LeBron James or Kawhi Leonard were able to stop him.
His 42 points and 10 rebound double-double came on a highly efficient 12 of 19. The only area of the floor he wasn’t connecting from was the perimeter where he shot 1 of 5. As per Smart’s comments he also made 17 of his 21 free throws.
His running mate, Ben Simmons came close to a triple-double with 11 points, eight assists and eight rebounds. Tobias Harris (21) and Shake Milton (16) were the other double-figure contributors.
Philly is among the many teams who got hit hard by COVID-19. At one point they had seven players out but are down to two (Seth Curry, Vincent Poirier) still out. In addtion, Mike Scott (knee) is out until February.
