Boston Celtics
The Celtics got rocked by the Knicks at home Sunday, 105–75.
The scoring total represents by far Boston’s lowest scoring output of the season. The Celtics shot 29.8 percent from the field, including seven out of 46 (.152) from three.

Jaylen Brown scored 25 for a third of Boston’s total. Marcus Smart had ten and nobody else finished in double-figures. That is despite Kemba Walker returning from a balky knee that had kept him from making his season debut.
Walker played 20 minutes and finished with nine points, four assists, three rebounds, three steals and five turnovers. He shot three of 13 from the field.
Of course, Boston was without Jayson Tatum, who remains sidelined after a positive Covid-19 test. A timetable for his return has not been released but it would seem he won’t be back for this game, either.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Celtics will have two full days off before this matchup and Philly will have three after the second game of its back-to-back was postponed on Sunday.
Philadelphia was supposed to play Oklahoma City before the NBA called the game off due to contact tracing.
Joel Embiid was not going to play in order to rest his sore knee. The Sixers announced he would miss two games, which have since passed so he should be back for this one.
There’s also hope Seth Curry will be back. He also tested positive for the coronavirus but it was a full week before Tatum did. It Curry is feeling well, he may be cleared in time for this one.
It’s the first matchup of the year between these two teams who figure to play for the division title.
