Friday, February 26th the Atlanta Hawks and Oklahoma City Thunder play for the first time this season.
This match marks the return of Danilo Gallinari to OKC the team he enjoyed a great season with last year as part of the clutch time crew.
The Thunder holds the all-time record between the squads with 68 victories in 135 meetings. Last season these clubs played once with Oklahoma City winning that contest.
Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks rebounding from a tough loss to the Cavaliers with a big 127-112 win over the reeling Celtics.
Trae Young learned prior to the game he hadn’t made the All-Star team as a reserve while he faced two Celtics who did make the team (Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum).
Undoubtedly, that fueled his performance as he dropped 33 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and a steal. Young connected on five of his 11 perimeter shots.
Gallinari produced his best effort since joining the Hawks scoring a season-high 38 points with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The Italian forward was incredibly efficient hitting 10 out of 12 of his 3 point shots.
John Collins registered a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while Tony Snell scored 12 points as the other double-figure contributor.
Cam Reddish (Achilles) missed the match versus Boston and is questionable for Friday. Kris Dunn hasn’t played this season healing from offseason knee surgery and won’t play Friday.
Bogdan Bogdanovic has missed 23 games, with an avulsion fracture to his knee, and will be out at least until March. Additionally, De’Andre Hunter suffered an articular tear in his right knee and won’t return until April.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander entered the match Wednesday knowing he not only wasn’t selected as an All-Star reserve but his former mentor (Chris Paul) would be joined by his new protege Devin Booker who was tapped by Adam Silver as the injury replacement for Anthony Davis.
Gilgeous-Alexander like his opponent Young let his on court action offer his response to the snub. SGA shattered his career-high with a 42-point effort on 13 of 20 from the field and 6 of 11 from deep. He added eight rebounds, four assists, and a block.
The efficiency in the win versus the Spurs wasn’t an outlier — it’s what the young Canadian guard has accomplished all season. On the season, SGA is shooting 51% from the field, 41.9% from the perimeter, and 79.1% from the charity stripe.
And while Gilgeous-Alexander was clearly the star performer the winning shot came courtesy of the other Thunder Canadian, Luguentz Dort who drilled a wide-open 3-pointer to win the game for OKC.
Dort joined Al Horford is scoring 16 points in the winning effort versus the extremely shorthanded Spurs.
George Hill (thumb) is out until March.

4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Hawks ATS
The Thunder are very familiar with Gallinari’s offensive prowess and know he tends to go on hot streaks. The prospect of Gallo heating up just prior to this match in OKC could be an omen.
Although there won’t be fans in attendance, Young has an affinity for this area having played his college ball at Oklahoma.
