The Hawks snapped their ten-game losing streak by winning a couple of games in a row against divisional opponents. They beat the Hornets by one and the Heat by two, the second win was on the road because Miami loses home games to teams like the Hawks.
Atlanta went to Charlotte on Wednesday and the Hornets got a fair measure of payback, winning 108–94. Jeremy Lamb led the scoring with twenty-two and has scored at least eighteen in seven of his last eight games; Kemba Walker only needed to score nineteen in the win. Cody Zeller hit for a season-high nineteen.
Atlanta’s starting five has changed around a bit in the last couple weeks. Kent Bazemore went out with a sprained ankle and returned as the team’s sixth man, Kevin Huerter now in his starting two spot. Omari Spellman is also coming off the bench after a brief stint as the starting four.
Jeremy Lin missed the Charlotte game with a sprained ankle. He was questionable heading into the day but didn’t end up playing. If he can’t go for this one, DeAndre Bembry will get more minutes off the bench.
Oklahoma City had three days off following a disappointing home loss to the Denver Nuggets. All losses these days are disappointing for the Thunder, which is simply playing sensational basketball without Hamidou Diallo, who is still at least a week or so away from returning from a leg injury.
The Thunder defeated Cleveland at home on Wednesday, 100-83. It was less of a team effort than we’ve been used to of late out of OKC. Only two scorers other than Russell Westbrook finished in double-digits and nobody other than the former MVP had double-digits in any other statistical category.
Westbrook, meanwhile, put up a lofty triple-double: 23 points, 19 rebounds and 15 assists. Steven Adams had a light night in the stat sheet but he held Tristan Thompson to 4 points and 2 rebounds in 35 minutes.
After giving up 28 points in the first quarter, the Thunder’s defense clamped down and allowed just 55 in the following three quarters. That kind of defense will have it in contention to the end in the West. Now, the balanced scoring needs to return.

Free Atlanta Hawks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Prediction: Thunder should be just fine.
Atlanta is pretty god-awful on the road and it turns it over a ton. That doesn’t bode well for this game, which shouldn’t be close for long.
