Kansas State will see their first action holding host to the Arkansas State Red Wolves at home on Saturday, September 12th. The Wildcats will try to fight for a conference championship this year after finishing 8-5 in 2019. The Red Wolves took the loss in their opener last week against Memphis 37-24 after playing a close game going into the fourth quarter.
This is the first meeting between these two teams since September 1980, so not much history in this matchup

Arkansas State will send Logan Bonner out to start Saturday’s contest. The Red Wolves saw two QB’s in action last Saturday so be on the lookout for Layne Hatcher if Bonner begins to struggle. Bonner threw for two TD’s and one interception in the opener, while Hatcher just had some passing yards.
The Wolves were outscored 30-3 in the second half of their game against Memphis week after getting a 14-7 lead in the second quarter. The team did put together a great offensive performance though gathering 424 yards on the ground and air.

Defensively, Arkansas was gassed in the second half of the game and couldn’t keep up with the ground and pound game of the Tigers as they continued to run the ball and run time off the clock. They had absolutely zero answers for the run game and that needs to improve as they are facing a much better Kansas State team.
Kansas State Wildcats
Wildcats will look to kickoff 2020 with a win as they are facing a much inferior Arkansas State team. It will be Chris Klieman’s second year as the head coach of the Cats and he will look to reach his first Big-12 championship this season after a nice 8-5 finish last year.
Senior Skylar Thompson will return to Junction for his senior year to help the Wildcats this season. Thompson in his junior year completed 177 passes on 297 attempts for 2315 yards in 2019. He had a 12:5 TD to INT ratio as Klieman loves to utilize the run. Skylar also added 11 TD’s on the ground to go with his 405 yards.
