Markelle Fultz, PHI (@ BOS), $5k DK
Markelle Fultz is a player to target early in the season before DFS players realize he’s being slept on to start the 2017-18 season.
Philadelphia has announced that Fultz will start over JJ Redick on opening night. That in and of itself does not guarantee a great showing, but it’s a sign that the former No. 1 overall pick is trending in the right direction.
There’s a good chance he becomes a more expensive option very quickly, so take advantage of his $5k price tag while it lasts.
Raymond Felton, OKC (vs PHI) $3.7k DK
If you’re looking to run out a balanced roster on a night with a short slate, Dennis Schroder is the better pick here. His production is more guaranteed with Russell Westbrook out, but we have to recognize that Paul George is going to have an absurd usage rate in this contest and extended run for Raymond Felton makes him a better value pick when it’s all said and done.
Paul George, OKC (vs PHI), $8k DK
Did we mention Paul George’s absurd usage rate?
With Westbrook all-but ruled out against the Golden State Warriors, it’s going to be the PG13 show. George will spend plenty of his energy attacking the rim trying to get cheap buckets at the foul line, but with Westbrook out, you have to imagine the Dubs get this in blowout fashion.
What does that mean? More quick possessions for the Thunder and more deep shots from their go-to scorer.
Jordan Bell, GSW (vs OKC), $4.1k DK
This is the easiest pick you’ll see all night under $5k—and we’re pushing $4k with this one.
Jordan Bell is a no-brainer value pick. Not only is he going to get solid run all season until the DeMarcus Cousins signing officially begins paying dividends, but he’s not the type of starter Golden State will take out early when it gets a big lead.
Bell will get plenty of time playing with the starters out of the elbows and as a secondary or tertiary scorer with the scrubs. That should equate to a good night from a guy who cost you basically pennies.
Joel Embiid, PHI (@ BOS) $8.8k DK
If you have eyes on a forward like Ben Simmons or Kevin Durant, you can get away with playing Jordan Bell at center. But knowing you can find value in Bell while keeping the 5 spot open, Joel Embiid becomes an easy choice.
As good as Al Horford is overall, and as well as the Celtics play defense, the Sixers’ man in the middle has found ways to dominate Boston. That shouldn’t be any different come opening night.
- DBT: Russell Westbrook, OKC, G [UPGRADES: Dennis Schroder, Raymond Felton, Paul George]
- QST: Steven Adams, MIN, C [UPGRADES: Jordan Bell]
One last thing. Remember… at the end of the day if you can’t afford to gamble online OR play at Draft Kings and Fan Duel then STOP. We know most DFS players need action, heck we do too, so just bet what you can afford.
Don’t go chasing money in high dollar GPP’s. Stick to cash games, and try to play on bigger slates. Avoid those night time 2 games slates. Your bankroll will thank us later.
