NBA DFS: Guards
Devin Booker, PHO (vs NYK) Price: $8.4.4k DK, $8k FD
There are plenty of elite guards to choose from on Friday night. Victor Oladipo, James Harden, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard and Kemba Walker are all in action, but they’re all going to cost you more than Devin Booker.
Booker will have plenty of opportunities to score against a struggling New York Knicks team. NY is just 16th at stopping guards in DFS, and Booker, who once went off for 70 points in a game last season, has both a 43-point game and a 30-point game in two of his last four games.
Lance Stephenson, IND (@ CLE) Price: $4.6k DK, $4.8k FD
Lance Stephenson is feeling at home in Indiana. In his last outing (vs. Phoenix), he posted seven points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal while hitting a three-pointer.
That landed him 30.25 FPTS (DK). Against Cleveland—against his one-time arch nemesis, LeBron James—he has a real shot at going off considering the Cavs have the second-to-worst defensive rating in the NBA and are just 27th in stopping guards in DFS.
NBA DFS: Forwards
Bobby Portis, CHI (vs LAL) Price: $4.7k DK, $4.5k FD
If you want a good strategy to take into any given night, pick at least one player going up against the Los Angeles Lakers. L.A. is far from an elite defensive team, and when Lonzo Ball’s playing, they run at an elite pace, creating plenty of extra possessions.
In this one, Portis enters the game coming off a big-time 46.75 FPTS night. He scored 22 points, collected 11 rebounds, had three steals and knocked down a shot from behind the arc.
Note that this game was a bit of an anomaly when looking at his past 10 contests, but against the Lakers, there’s plenty of potential to go off once again.
Michael Beasley, NYK (@ PHO) Price: $6.5k DK, $6.4k FD
Mercurial Michael Beasley is far from a safe pick. His inconsistencies make him a dangerous pick, but his highs make him a high-reward type of player when the stars align.
Against Phoenix, the stars will undoubtedly be aligned. Phoenix doesn’t play a lick of defense and runs a top-three pace. Beasley already has plenty of momentum coming into this one, with back-to-back 20-plus-point performances, and he should keep that trend going Friday night.
NBA DFS: Centers
Anthony Davis, NOLA (@ HOU) Price: $10.7k DK, $11.5k FD
If you take one piece of advice from this post, it’s this: Draft either Anthony Davis or DeMarcus Cousins on Friday night. It’ll be tempting to fade both because everybody and their dog will be taking them against the fast-paced, mediocre defense Houston Rockets. But don’t do it.
It’s going to cost you, but taking one or the other needs to happen. We’re going with Davis because we like the matchup against Ryan Anderson (or Trevor Ariza in small-ball situations) better than we like Cousins vs. Clint Capela.
Davis is just four games removed from back-to-back 45-plus-point showings. We’d never guarantee someone will score that high of a point total, but against Houston, Davis has a chance to put together one of his better games of the season.
- QST: Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL, G/F, $10.4k [UPGRADES: Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe]
- OUT: Kawhi Leonard, SAS, F, $7.9k [UPGRADES: Kyle Anderson, Dejounte Murray]
- QST: Tyreke Evans, MEM, G, $7.8 [Upgrades: Dillon Brooks]
- DBT: Lonzo Ball, LAL, G, $6.9k [Jordan Clarkson, Kyle Kuzma]
- QST: Myles Turner, IND, C, $6.4k [Domantas Young, Thadeus Young]
One last thing. Remember… at the end of the day if you can’t afford to gamble online OR play at Draft Kings and Fan Duel then STOP. We know most DFS players need action, heck we do too, so just bet what you can afford.
Don’t go chasing money in high dollar GPP’s. Stick to cash games, and try to play on bigger slates. Avoid those night time 2 games slates. Your bankroll will thank us later.
