*Note that this edition of the NBA DFS Lineup Tips applies specifically to the Rising Star Challenge on Friday night. There are no positions, per DraftKings—just six Utility players.
Ben Simmons, PHI, $8.9 DK
This is going to be Ben Simmons’ ultimate opportunity to showcase his Rookie of the Year status against semi-ROY candidate Donovan Mitchell. Also, it’s going to be his easiest triple-double of the season.
Don’t be surprised if Simmons is able to put together a trip-dub by halftime. This could very easily be a performance along the lines of 14 points, 15 rebounds and 20 assists for the rookie stud, representing both the Sixers and Australia on Friday night.
Brandon Ingram, LAL $8.9k DK
Brandon Ingram could very well end up the highest scorer in this contest. There are going to be plenty of opportunities for him both at the rim and beyond the three-point line, and there’s a legitimate shot he pushes past 30 points in this who’s who of rising stars.
Jayson Tatum, BOS, $7.0k DK
Jayson Tatum isn’t going to be the top scorer, rebounder, blocks guy, steals guy or assists guy. But outside Ben Simmons, he has a legitimate chance of totaling the highest sum when it comes to all those categories.
Lauri Markannen, CHI, $9.1k DK
Out of everyone on both roster, the Chicago Bulls’ Lauri Markkanen has a shot to become the leading three-point scorer when this one is all said and done. He may get a block or two as well, which will be bonus points considering you should draft him exclusively for outside shooting.
Dennis Smith Jr., DAL, $8.0k DK
Dennis Smith will be looking for a pre-game showcase ahead of his Slam Dunk Contest feature on Saturday night. Expect double-digit points in dunks alone for this young guard.
Taurean Prince, ATL, $6.2K DK
Taurean Prince will be a poor man’s Jayons Tatum in this contest. No, he won’t earn many headlines outside the Atlanta area once this showcase comes to a close, but he has the makeup of someone who will leave his fingerprints all over the box score once the game comes to a close.
- QST: Joel Embiid, C, PHI [UPGRADES: Ben Simmons]
One last thing. Remember… at the end of the day if you can’t afford to gamble online OR play at Draft Kings and Fan Duel then STOP. We know most DFS players need action, heck we do too, so just bet what you can afford.
Don’t go chasing money in high dollar GPP’s. Stick to cash games, and try to play on bigger slates. Avoid those night time 2 games slates. Your bankroll will thank us later.
