*Note that DraftKings’ All-Star Sunday Contest is Showdown Format only. That’s six players, with one of the six being worth 1.5x FPTS. The following six players are not a suggested lineup—just an analysis of six different players you should choose in comparison to their respective price tags.
**Also note that the price tags seen below are for the default UTIL position, not the 1.5x FPTS slot. The latter will have a higher price tag, but is obviously well worth it if you choose wisely.
LeBron James, LAL, $9.4 DK
There’s one reason to pick LeBron James: He’s going to be hunting assists like nobody’s business. LeBron’s selections in this year’s ASG Draft was almost comical, as The King chose anyone who could be even a slim possibility to recruit down the road. James will get his fair share of buckets and likely push 20 points, but he’s going to be in full floor general mode tossing lobs and setting up his shooters as a form of legal recruiting for both free agency and whenever a star decides to demand a trade.
Stephen Curry, GSW, $9.0k DK
Stephen Curry’s carrer high in three-pointers made during an All-Star Game is six. There’s a chance he absolutely obliterates that in front of a Charlotte crowd that’s going to give him his own special form of homecourt advantage for growing up in the area.
Kemba Walker, CHA, $6.4k DK
Kemba Walker could prove to be one of the best value picks on Sunday night. Like Curry, he’s going to get plenty of home cooking from the Charlotte crowd. It’s become somewhat of an annual tradition to get the hometown player involved to the point where he has a shot at MVP, where can hoist the trophy in front of his loyal fanatics. This should be no different.

Damian Lillard, POR, $6.2k DK
Damian Lillard has made a career off of playing with a chip on his shoulder. Although he qualified for last year’s game, he used being a reserve and not a starter as an excuse to go off for 21 points in fewer than 21 minutes. Although he’s playing on what should be considered an even more talented team than the one he was on last year, and while 21 points in 20-plus minutes is highly unlikely, he’s actually a (very) darkhorse MVP candidate if he gets his long ball going and Team LeBron is able to come away with a win.
Ben Simmons, PHI, $4.8k DK
Ben Simmons has an admittedly low floor in this contest considering his complete lack of a competent jump shot. After all, this is the three-point era, and this is a game that relies on the deep shot more like a crutch. But there’s one other aspect of this game that actually raises his ceiling despite the low floor: transition offense. With no defense anywhere in sight, Simmons could be worth the low-price gamble simply because he’s going to get out in transition. And you’d better believe LeBron, his Klutch buddy, will help him get in the right position to take advantage.
LaMarcus Aldridge, SAS, $3.6
Nobody on this list is a “recommendation” from us. We’re simply providing the information for you to make an informed decision. But that’s why we’ve chosen LaMarcus Aldridge here in the kicker. We’ll be honest: LaMarcus may be the one player we strictly do not recommend. Except for one small detail: If Anthony Davis sits, LMA becomes a decent value option in his absence on Team LeBron. Aldridge’s mid-range game and lack of overall flair will keep him off the vast majority of DK rosters, which means his potential step-out threes and easy putbacks will be a bonus for anyone who takes him—again, only if AD’s shoulder injury is legit and keeps him out of this contest.
