Centers
Tomas Hertl – SJ @ (OTT) — $7K DraftKings /$12.7K FantasyDraft
Hertl had a slow start to the season, but has picked it up since the return of winger Evander Kane to the lineup. He’s racked up 8 points in the last 5 games.
Facing a rebuilding Ottawa team that has had its defensive struggles this season — the Sens have given up 3.4 goals and almost 35 shots against so far this year.
Hertl leads all San Jose forwards with overall ice time with an average of just under 20 minutes a game. He also leads all forwards with power play time.
Matthew Barzal – NYI vs (PHI) — $6.4K DraftKings /$6.3K FantasyDraft
A lot like Hertl, Barzal also started with a slow start to the season. He’s also picked it up recently with 6 points in his last 5 games.
The Islanders sit in the middle of the pack as far as goals scored, but their power play is ranked 3rd overall, converting over 30% of chances so far this season.
The former ROY was very good against the Flyers last season, putting up 5 assists in 4 games.
Wingers
Patrick Kane – CHI vs (LAK) — $7.6K DraftKings /$14.2K FantasyDraft
The Hawks’ were shutout in their Saturday afternoon game against the Hurricanes — nothing helps a team searching for offense like facing the Kings.
The Kings, under new coach Todd McLellan have been quite bad defensively as they get used to their new system. LA are the worst team in the NHL with a goals against average of 3.9 goals a game. In addition, their penalty kill is also ranked near the bottom of the league as well.
Kane has been okay to start the season with 8 points in 9 games, but he’s always dangerous on the power play — hopefully he takes advantage of facing a Kings team with a weak penalty kill.
Kevin LeBanc – SJ vs (OTT) — $5.7K DraftKings /$10.1K FantasyDraft
LeBanc has been playing with Tomas Hertl and Evander Kane on the Sharks 2nd line — he’s put up 6 points in 11 games this season.
He’s also getting top unit power play time, he leads all Sharks forward with a Corsi rating of over 53% and seeing over 56% offensive zone starts.
The Sens have been giving up a ton of shots against — ranking second worst in the entire NHL. LeBanc has put up 2 goals in his last two games and will get plenty of chances to push that to 3 goals in 3 games versus the Sens.
Also Consider – Alexander Nylander (CHI vs LAK): Chicago has moved Nylander to top PP unit with Kane and DeBrincat in search of more offense. He’s priced cheap and could end up being a excellent value play against a poor Kings PK.
Defense
Jacob Trouba – NYR @ (BOS) — $6.1K DraftKings /$10.2K FantasyDraft
Trouba has been a fantasy gem most nights he’s in the line up. He just seems to be getting better each game he plays with New York.
If he’s not providing a goal or getting an assist, he’s almost guaranteed to still put up some fantasy points on shots on goal and blocked shots.
He leads the Rangers with ice time, shots, blocks and is first among defensmen on the team with power play time. He’s been Mr. Consistency for many of my line ups, and I’ll keep running him out there until he gives me a reason not to do so.
Also Consider – Erik Gustafsson (CHI vs LAK): He’s been quiet on the season so far — but he’s getting plenty of ice time on a power play that features Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat. He could be a sneaky play against a horrid Kings penalty kill.
Goalies
Marc-Andre Fleury (Probable) — VGK vs (ANA) — $8.3K DraftKings /$17.2K FantasyDraft
The Knights were lit up for 6 goals in their last game against Colorado — Fleury was in goal for 4 of those 6 before getting pulled.
He’s been a workhorse for the Knights this season, as regular backup goalie Malcolm Subban has been injured and Fleury has been forced into more starts.
Before the loss to the Avalanche, Fleury had won 3 in a row with one shutout and a marvellous .972 SV%. He should be ready to bounce back against a Ducks team that ranks close to the bottom of the league in goals scored.
