Centers
Sebastian Aho – CAR @ (CBJ) — $6.5K DraftKings /$16.6K FantasyDraft
After putting up a career high in points last season and re-signing with the Canes’ on a 5 year contract extension, Aho has been off to a rather quiet start.
He’s only been able to put up 3 points in 9 games for a Carolina team playing great hockey. With that said, he is leading the Canes’ with shots on goal, and his poor 6.7 shooting percentage is bound to increase. He’s also seeing almost 60% offensive zone starts.
His price has come down recently, and it’s a perfect opportunity to take advantage of that. He’s put up 8 points in 13 games against the Blue Jackets.
Mika Zibanejad – NYR vs (BUF) — $7.2K DraftKings /$8.6K FantasyDraft
Zibanejad has continued his strong start to the season. He’s put up 3 points in his last 3 games, and leads all Rangers forwards with over 23 minutes of ice time a night.
Even though Zibanejad has put up 15 points in 22 career games against the Sabres, he’s sitting with a strangely low 4.7 shooting percentage in those games against the Sabres.
Buffalo has been in the bottom third of the NHL with shots allowed. With the amount of ice time Zibanejad is seeing, he will continue get plenty of shot opportunities and high quality scoring chances.
Wingers
Alex Ovechkin – WSH @ (EDM) — $8.1K DraftKings /$12.2K FantasyDraft
The Great Eight has enjoyed playing Edmonton over his long career, averaging over a point per game with 21 in 18 games.
Ovechkin has already managed 50 shots on goal to start the season, converting on 7 of those to lead the team in goals alongside T.J Oshie.
The Oilers have been shutout in their last 2 games – don’t be surprised to see their forwards cheating a bit on D to kickstart the offense. This could lead to Ovechkin getting more opportunities to exploit the Oilers defense.
Jaden Schwartz – STL vs (LAK) — $4.8K DraftKings /$16.4K FantasyDraft
Schwartz always seems to get overlooked on a deep St. Louis team for some reason. He’s put up a point in each of his last 5 games; he sits with 7 points overall in 9 games this season.
Playing on the Blues top line with Brayden Schenn and Vladamir Taresenko, Schwartz is seeing over 18 minutes a night in ice time and he’s getting top unit power play minutes too.
Up against a Kings team that sits at the bottom of the league with goals allowed, Schwartz is in a great spot and well priced for the upside he brings tonight.
Defense
Roman Josi – NSH vs (MIN) — $6.8K DraftKings /$13.6K FantasyDraft
Josi is in the final year of his contract and is playing like a man who is going to get well paid on his next NHL deal.
9 points in 9 games. He’s leading all Preds’ in ice time, which isn’t itself surprising, but his 30 shots on goal to lead the team is.
Nashville has been a dominate goal scoring team this season, leading the entire league with over 4 goals on average per game. A big part of that has been the offense created by their defensive unit, led by Josi and Ryan Ellis who have combined for 21 points in 9 games.
Pairing Josi and Ellis on D tonight may not be the worse decision you make in DFS this week.
Also Consider – Ryan Ellis: As mentioned, the Preds’ D has been fantastic. Ellis is in a great spot against a Wild team giving up over 3.5 goals a game.
Goalies
Darcy Kuemper (Probable) — ARZ @ (NYI) — $7.5K DraftKings /$16.7K FantasyDraft
The Coyotes have had a great start to the year and will probably surprise a lot of teams this season.
Kuemper has seen the majority of starts this year for Arizona, as the team slowly works Antti Raanta back from injury.
Kuemper has put up an excellent goals against average of 1.68 to go along with an out of this world .944 SV%
The Coyotes, as a team, lead the league with under 2 goals allowed a game and they are facing an Islander team that is bottom 10 in the league with goals for.
This is a great match up for Kuemper and the Coyotes.
