Centers
Connor McDavid – EDM vs. (DET) — $8.1K DraftKings /$16.6K FantasyDraft
McDavid joined rare company after his game against Philadelphia. By putting up 5 points in the game, he joined Wayne Gretzky as the only other Oiler to total 17 points in his first 7 games. So yeah, he’s playing pretty well to start the year.
The Oilers are up against a Detroit team on the 2nd half of a back to back. McDavid and line mate Leon Draisaitl have been feasting on opponents, combining for 32 points in 7 games and arguably becoming the best duo in the NHL.
Edmonton’s power play is bound to regress, but at the moment they sit number one in the league with an absurd conversion rate of of 45.5%. The Wings sit bottom 10 in the league in PK, so a favourable combination for McDavid and company to take advantage of.
Aleksander Barkov – FLA vs. (COL) — $5.8K DraftKings /$11.8K FantasyDraft
Barkov has been off to a quiet start for his standard, and his price reflects that. No goals, and only 5 assists in 6 games on a Florida team adjusting to new head coach Joel Quenneville.
Facing a red hot Avalanche team that is giving up a ton of shots, he should continue to get a lot of offensive zone starts.
Barkov, along with line mates Johnathan Huberdeau and Evgenii Dadonov, have been averaging almost 70% offensive zone starts and all three with a near 55% Corsi average, they have been driving the play more often than not.

Wingers
Mikko Rantanen – COL @ (FLA) — $7.2K DraftKings /$14.9K FantasyDraft
After getting signed to a new deal just in time to start the season, Rantanen is letting everyone know one thing with his play so far – He is worth every penny the Avalanche are paying him.
10 points in 6 games, 7 of those points coming at even strength. He’s an elite level talent that only keeps getting better each game.
If you’re looking at a line stack tonight and want to pay up, you could do a lot worse than Landeskog/MacKinnon/Rantanen.
Brandon Saad – CHI vs (CBJ) — $4.9K DraftKings /$10.1K FantasyDraft
Saad is looking more like the Saad we saw a few years ago. He’s taking his opportunities to shoot the puck more, leading the Hawks with shots on goal in the first 4 games played.
His numbers aren’t screaming “play me”, but he’s been solid with 3 points in 4 games. He’s averaging almost 15 minutes in the 3rd line and seeing 2nd unit PP time.
I like him at this price, up against a Blue Jackets team that has seen some so-so goaltending to start the year.
Defense
Oscar Klefbom- EDM vs. (DET) — $6.1K DraftKings /$11.9K FantasyDraft
Call it the McDavid effect if you want, but Kelfbom has been sensational in the first 7 games of the season. He’s showing glimpses from a few years ago when he was able to stay healthy.
Klefbom is playing heavy minutes each night, with an average of almost 25 minutes a night. He’s leading the Oilers defense with 9 points in 7 games, and chipping in 15 SOG to go along with 15 blocks.
He’s also been a key part to an Edmonton power play ranked number one going into tonight’s game.
Goalies
Matt Murray (Probable) — PIT vs. (DAL) — $7.9K DraftKings /$16.4K FantasyDraft
Who saw this coming? A Dallas team that can’t score. Plus a Penguin team minus Malkin and newly acquired Alex Galchenyuk off to a 5-2 start and 2nd in the league with 4 goals for a game.
Even though I still think this Dallas team is much better than they have shown so far, they still have to go out and prove it. They have been kept to 2 goals or under in 6 of 8 games to start the year and a PP unit that is at an abysmal 4.4%. Ouch.
Needless to say, this puts Matt Murray and the Penguins in a great spot as Dallas fights to figure out their offensive game. He’s a solid play tonight.
