Pierce spent the first nine years of his career with the Celtics and has averaged 23.6 points per game during that span.
The first test of the superstar trio will come tonight against Washington, winner of four straight against Boston, including three last season. As well, the Wizards are 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings in Boston.
The Celtics also have veteran newcomers Eddie House, James Posey and Scot Pollard off the bench.
Last season, the Celtics set a franchise record with 18 straight losses and posted their second-worst mark in their 62 seasons. They went 24-58 SU (straight up) and 42-39-1 ATS (against the spread). At home, they were 12-29 SU and 13-27-1 ATS.
The off-season blockbuster move certainly captured respect of oddsmakers. NBA odds (futures) list Boston the favorites to win the Atlantic at -180. The Celtics’ regular season win total is set at 48½ over -120.

Washington started this year’s campaign in money-dropping fashion on Wednesday, when they lost 119-110 in overtime to Indiana in their season opener as the 2½-point favorites on the road.
