NCAA Football Injury Reports
The big story in week 2 handicapping of the College Football Season was the Pac-10. Save for Oregon State last Thursday, the Pac-10 showed themselves to be a stacked conference and one that all college football bettors should pay attention to this betting season.
Here is a run-down of how the Pac-10 did and an outlook on a few games this coming weekend.
Arizona State was –17 against the spread versus Colorado. Even though the Sun Devils made mistakes early in their game versus the Buffalos, spotting Colorado a 14 point lead, the Devils rallied and beat Colorado by 19 points, covering the spread, and proving that they are indeed, a team to watch this year. Once again, the Devils were terrific at rushing and passing, racking up 269 passing yards and 138 rushing yards.
Washington was an ATS underdog versus Boise State and, man, did they come up big or what? They ended the longest winning streak in college football – – Boise State hadn’t lost since 2005 – – and crushed the spread by beating Boise State 24 – 10. Unlike their walkover versus Syracuse a week before, Washington beat a top 25 ranked team on Saturday. They too could be a surprise this year.
Oregon should be ranked after demolishing the Michigan Wolverines 39 – 7 on the road. Oregon was an 8.5 underdog against the spread versus Michigan, but it didn’t matter as Michigan served notice that they really can’t play defense this year. Either that or Oregon is a very good team. Either way, Michigan looks terrible – – just terrible.
California had a tough go of it against Colorado State on the road. In retrospect, it was probably to be expected after the Golden Bears’ tough, emotional, win versus Tennessee a week ago. Cal didn’t come close to covering the – 16 points betting line as they only beat the Rams by 6 points, 34 – 28, but make no mistake, the Golden Bears are still a very good team.
Looking to this weekend, USC plays a tough Nebraska team on the road. USC is an early 13.5 against the spread favorite against Nebraska, but the line is expected to rise by game time on Saturday. How good are the Trojans? On paper, they squash Nebraska, but Nebraska must like the way things are going after fighting their way to a win over a tough Wake Forest team. This could be the Trojans’ coming out party or a sign that things could get tough for L.A.’s favorite “pro” sports’ team.
The before mentioned Michigan Wolverines are a 9.5 against the spread favorite versus the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Both teams appear to be pretty bad this year which makes this line very difficult to gauge. Watch this line carefully during the week in order to get a bead on which way real college football bettors are going.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are a 4 point against the spread favorite on the road versus the Washington Huskies. What a game this could be. Is Ohio State any good? And, how good are the Huskies? This could be a very, very important game and one that this college football bettor will be watching closely. The line on this game may be flawed as Washington has already beaten a top 25 team and the Buckeyes appeared to struggle last Saturday versus Akron. Pay attention to this one.
Boston College is getting 7 points against the spread on the road versus the Georgia Tech Yellow-jackets. This is also a very excellent game to watch as Boston College has played against a tough Wake Forest team and a better than expected North Carolina State Wolfpack team. The Yellow-jackets beat up on Notre Dame and Samford in their last two. This is yet another NCAA football betting line which may be somewhat off.
Until next week, good luck!
