It’s tough to beat a team twice in one year, but the BC Eagles will have to do just that if they plan on winning the ACC Championship Game this Saturday.
The Eagles will have to travel down south, to Jacksonville, FL, in order to play for the ACC Championship. That automatically places the Eagles in a bad position since the truth of the matter is that the trip from Boston to Jacksonville is much tougher than the trip from Blacksburg, VA to Jacksonville.
Expect the Hokie Nation to come out in droves for this one. The key will be how BC QB, Matt Ryan, handles the pressure. He did a fairly good job in the last two minutes of the first game between these two teams, but the rest of that game – – about 58 minutes of it – – Ryan looked like the proverbial deer in headlights.
I do not think that the Hokies have forgotten how they gave up the win the last time these two teams played. Because of that, I do like the Hokies.
However, there is another, more solid reason to like the Hokies and here it is:
The Virginia Tech Hokies have scored on average at least 39 points per game in their last 3 games.
That’s a lot of points for a Hokies team known mainly for defense. They won all three games, of course, and did in style holding all three teams to an average of 18 points.
The three teams the Hokies have beaten are: the Miami Hurricanes, the Florida State Seminoles, and the Virginia Cavaliers.
All three teams are known for playing very good defense. Florida State in particular is known as a defensive-minded team. The Hokies racked up 40 points against the Seminoles. To say t hat the Virginia Tech Hokies are on a roll is a major understatement.
The last time that Virginia Tech and Boston College played the score ended up being BC 14 and VA Tech 10. Don’t just expect a reversal in this game. Expect the Hokies to come out swinging. Anything less than a 14 to 17 point win in Virginia Tech’s favor would definitely surprise me.
The NCAA line is Virginia Tech Hokies – 4.5 against the spread on a neutral field for the ACC Championship.
