Our Sportsbooks: This sets up as an off-schnide game for the WASU Cougars who have dropped their last three games in a row straight-up as well as against the BetUS spread. What’s going on with these guys? They lost by five points to California three games ago, two points to Stanford in overtime, and then eight points to UCLA in their last game. That makes them a tough wager in this one because USC is starting to come on some having beaten Arizona State and Washington straight-up and against the Top Sportsbooks spread in their last two games.
Here are some trends:
The USC Trojans are 7 and 3 against the spread in their last 10 games.
The USC Trojans are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games.
The Washington State Cougars are 3 and 7 against the spread in their last 10 games.
The Washington State Cougars are 0 and 6 against the spread in their last 6 games.
This is a classic will the home team bounce back or will it continue to suffer against the Top Sportsbooks spread? My feeling is that the Cougars have been unlucky in their last three games. They were on the road versus California and Stanford. They probably should have beaten the Cardinal who are now ranked in the top ten nationally.
Then, they had to play against the UCLA Bruins who are playing better then any other team in college basketball. UCLA is a super team, not just a good team – – what chance did WASU have versus them? Not much.
So, I don’t believe that the Cougars are as bad as their against the Top Sportsbooks spread record indicates. I do think that this game will be very close as the USC Trojans are starting to hit a groove, but the Cougars are the better team. They will stop the bleeding eventually. Why not versus a USC team that has been on a small roll?
My money will be on the Cougars to cover in this game.
