NCAA Basketball Wagering – St. John’s at Syracuse
Our Sportsbooks: It’s hard to believe that St. John’s, (6-5 SU, 2-5 ATS, 3-4 O/U) and Syracuse, (10-3 SU, 5-6 ATS, 5-6 O/U) were perennial national powers that regularly produced some of the best players on the planet, in both collegiate and pro hoops.
Now, both schools are fighting to get back to the national prominence they displayed on an annual basis, though Syracuse has been a much better team the last decade or so.
Tonight, each school kicks off the New Year at the Carrier Dome in the BIG EAST Conference openers for both squads.
Syracuse extended its season-best winning streak to four games with a 95-74 victory over Northeastern on Sunday by placing six players in double figures against the Huskies, led by sophomore forward Paul Harris’ season-high 19 points.
St. John’s has lost two of their last three, including a dismal 54-48 loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday.
The Red Stom are led by forwards Justin Burrell and Anthony Mason Jr., who average an identical 11.2 points per game while Syracuse is led by forward Donte Green, (19.7 ppg) and guard Eric Devendorf (17.0 ppg).
Syracuse averages 86.5 points per game on 52.0 percent shooting while St. John’s is averaging 67.8 points per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field.

Key Head-to-Head Trends
The Red Storm are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Syracuse.

The Red Storm are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
Analysis: I hate to go against the St. John’s Red Storm, particularly since I came thisclose to attending the school as a freshman before having my parents decide on Penn State for me, (yea!) but the fact of the matter is that, ever since the beloved Lou Carneseca hung up his coaching shoes, the school has been pretty pathetic in basketball, despite their terrific hoops history. Take the Syracue Orange to make St. John’s ‘Beet-Red,’ (sorry couldn’t help myself), with a whopping defeat tonight.
