The St. Louis Rams were the pick of many to win the weakest division in football, the NFC West, at the start of the year. Now, halfway through the 2007 NFL betting season, many are wondering if this squad will even register a win. This will be the Rams’ fifth road game of the year. If the other games they have played away from home are any indication, the Saints will easily improve to 5-4. Away from their home dome, the Rams have failed to register more than seven points against any foe. They have been outscored on the road by a total score of 114-19, and although one of the teams that have taken advantage of them is known for its offense (Dallas), the other three (Baltimore, Seattle and Tampa Bay) are, by any stretch of the imagination, not.
It appears that running back Steven Jackson will be back for this game after suffering yet another injury against Cleveland in their last game. Prior to that, the man who accounted for 2,334 yards from scrimmage for St. Louis last year had missed four games with a groin injury. If the offensive line can protect quarterback Marc Bulger – a big if – and create the odd hole for Jackson to tear through, this Rams offense can still make some big noise. The injuries that had kept most every big-name player except Torry Holt off the field much of the season, are mostly healed.
