NCAAF Betting: Oregon Ducks (-2) vs. UCLA Bruins (+2)
I don’t know about you but I was ready to crown the Ducks as not only the best team in the Pac-10 but also the best team in all of college football. In fact I think that I might have crowned them that before their spanking at the hands of the Arizona Wildcats.
Of course, it helps to put things into perspective. Once Dennis Dixon went down the Ducks were toast against a very good offensive Arizona Wildcats team. Defense is not the Ducks strong point.
Then again, it’s not exactly a strong point for the UCLA Bruins but – –
The UCLA Bruins are 9 and 2 against the spread in their last 11 conference games.
Yes, UCLA has a date with the Trojans next week, but Bruins’ Coach Karl Dorrell, the save Karl job-fest begins this weekend. Dorrell has little chance of saving his job as it is but he has even less of a chance should he not beat both the Ducks and the Trojans.
That’s a lot of pressure to put onto a team like the Bruins who don’t really respond all that well to pressure. Sure, they’ve had their moments this year, but they’re just not a very good team.
They’re also coming off of 3 straight losses and I just can’t believe that the Ducks will be the team that helps them break that streak.
Which is why, even without Dixon, I sort of like the Oregon Ducks in this one. The Ducks have enough offensive fire-power and defense to beat the Bruins by the spread.
The Ducks also have the better coach in Mike Bilotti. Bilotti won’t let his troops lose sight of what the real goal was going into this season, a berth in the Rose Bowl, and with that goal in mind, the Ducks should play with enough passion to beat this spread.
The NCAA football spread is Oregon Ducks – 2 against the spread on the road versus the UCLA Bruins.
