The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, (2-9 SU, 4-7 ATS, 3-8 O/U), picked up just their second win of the season last week and could pick up win No. 3 against an equally atrocious Stanford Cardinal, (3-7 SU, 4-6 ATS, 3-6-1 O/U) team that hasn’t been much better than Notre Dame this season.
The Fighting Irish are averaging 235.8 yards and 16.0 points per game on offense but allowing 359.7 yards and 30.1 points per game to their opponents.
The Cardinal are averaging 321.8 yards and 20.1 points per game on offense, but are giving up a whopping 455.5 yards and 30.5 points per game to their opponents.
Notre Dame beat Stanford 31-10 last season at home but failed to cover the 29-point spread in the process. The Fighting Irish also come into this game off a rare win this season, a 28-7 victory over Duke in which they covered a seven-point spread.
Stanford lost to Washington State 33-17 on the road two weeks ago and failed to cover as 11-point underdogs.

Analysis: Though this matchup should probably be called the ‘Dismal Bowl’ the fact of the matter is that one of these teams will walk away a winner not matter how many people get nauseous by halftime.
In the end, I like the Cardinal to win this game at home over the Fighting Irish and cover the 3.5-point spread. Notre Dame’s offense has been absolutely abysmal this season, even more so than Stanford’s which has been pedestrian at best.
