Now, let’s take a look at the preseason happenings in the AFC and what BetUS NFL bettors need to know before they lay down their hard-earned bucks in search of some preseason winning wagers.
While the AFC is clearly the better conference, featuring three of the top teams in game in the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers, several AFC teams stand the possibility of shaking things up in 2008, much like the Cleveland Browns did in 2007.
However, several training camp developments for many teams this preseason, could alter the preseason betting landscape significantly.

The Denver Broncos are the top team that I believe could really surprise in 2008. Of young quarterback Jay Cutler can improve after being diagnosed – and treated -for diabetes, the Broncos could reach the postseason in 2008.
Denver opens their preseason at +3 points on road against another team I think could surprise a bit in 2008 in the Houston Texans.
While the Texans reside in what may be the best division in all of football, the AFC South, the Texans may just need another win or two over last season’s total of eight, to shockingly reach the postseason.
However, betting against Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, who is 39-17 in preseason games, is not a real good idea.
I also think the Buffalo Bills are a team that could surprise in 2008, depending on its defense and the continued maturation of young quarterback Trent Edwards.
The Baltimore Ravens could take another step backwards in 2008 unless one of their three quarterbacks really steps forward and shows he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL. Kyle Boller has already had his opportunity – and blown it – so the Ravens will likely go with Troy Smith or strong-armed rookie Joe Flacco, the team’s first round pick this season.
BetUS online NFL bettors looking for a coach, that doesn’t win often in the preseason, should likely bet against the Indianapolis Colts and head coach Tony Dingy, who is notorious for not playing his starters much in the preseason.
My NFL sources say Dungy is not bothered at all by the fact the starting quarterback Peyton Manning won’t be ready to play at the start of the preseason because of recent surgery. Dungy has compiled an uninspiring 9-16 career record in preseason games.
