The Dallas Mavericks, (9-13 ATS, 15-7 O/U) however, have been nearly as healthy as a horse all season, but are playing their most sporadic brand of basketball since head coach Avery Johnson took over for former mentor Don Nelson a couple of seasons ago.
Though they have won two consecutive games heading into this contest, including Tuesday’s 99-89 win over the New York Knicks, the Mavericks had dropped three of their preceding five games.
The Toronto Raptors, (13-8 ATS, 11-11 O/U) recently got good news with the returns of Chris Bosh, Andrea Bargnani and T.J. Ford but Ford, Toronto’s second-leading scorer, was promptly re-injured last night in the Raptors’ 100-88 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
The Mavericks finally got a powerful outing from Dirk Nowitzki against the lowly Knicks, scoring a season-high 36 points on 14-of-23 shooting. Dallas’ best player this season has been small forward Josh Howard who averages a team-leading 22.4 points per game and scored a career-high 47 points against the Utah Jazz in Dallas’ 125-117 win on Saturday.
