LSU (3-0 SU, 3-0 ATS) will face a steep challenge when they take on Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks (3-0 S, 1-1 ATS). Both teams have kept their opponents in check defensively. But LSU has only allowed one touchdown and is averaging 45.7 points per game while pinning teams to the mat with 2.3 points against.

Helping tip matters in their favor is their 14-2-1 record while playing South Carolina. The Gamecocks have also suffered two serious setbacks on defense. The Tigers have their pick at quarterback between Ryan Perrilloux or Matt Flynn. The two-headed rushing attack of Hester-Williams will mean plenty of fresh legs for LSU, and plenty of scoring opportunities on the ground.
The deciding element of this contest is Blake Mitchell, who was shaky last week against SC State. He threw three touchdowns, but also gave away three interceptions. He can’t afford to be that mistake prone against the ball-hawking LSU secondary, which can easily turn those picks into scores.
Bet on LSU to get the victory and continue their strong play against the spread as they crush the Gamecocks. Spurrier may be 11-1 against LSU, but that’s with Florida. The Tigers need a big statement to sway voters away from USC, and this game is as big as they come in early-season NCAA Football.
