The Louisville Cardinals are playing like the Cardinal – – you know? The team on the West Coast named after a color and not something alive? The one with the fir tree for a mascot?
Yeah, those guys. That’s who these Cardinals have become. I guess changing coaches does make a difference in college football. Not that it was their choice or anything.
In any case, here are a couple of trends that, on the outset look conflicting, but, actually, aren’t at all:

Now, I am a true believe in trends about certain coaches just like I’m a true believer in trends regarding trainers on the horse tracks, but to say that the Cardinals play well in November doesn’t mean much. Usually, the Cardinals are the best team in the Big East. Usually, they’re coached by someone else, someone with experience. Then, of course, sometimes, they have guys like Amobi Okoye playing on their defensive line.
Not so this year. The Louisville Cardinals have practically no chance of stopping the West Virginia offense. The West Virginia defense has started playing better lately as well. That makes the second trend, the one about the Cardinals being colder than a July day in Greenland, very important.
The Louisville Cardinals are icy and they’re going on the road to face a team who still believes that they can win a championship.
