By Cappers Picks Staff
The chase is on as the Nextel Cup series invades Kansas Speedway for NASCAR betting action in the LifeLock 400 on Sunday (2:15pm EST), which is race 3-of-10 in NASCAR’s playoffs.
Clint Bowyer began The Chase for the Cup with a dominate winning performance at Loudon in the Sylvania 300, and it was Carl Edwards who took the checkers in Race 2 of the chase at Dover in the Dodge Dealers 400 last week. Bowyer currently sits a respectable sixth in the point’s standings and Edwards third.
Jeff Gordon is atop the standings with Tony Stewart a bumper riding second just two points behind heading into Sunday’s race. Both drivers will be will be among oddsmakers choice to find Victory Lane at Kansas, and rightfully so.
Gordon has posted two career wins at Kansas along with three top-5’s and four top-10 finishes. Stewart also has a victory, which came in the most recent event at Kansas, at the 1.5 miles D-shaped oval track with three top-5 finishes and five top-10’s for a stout 6.5 average of finish.
Gordon has the most wins this year at four, with teammate Jimmie Johnson having second most with three. Johnson is fourth in the points and has never won at Kansas or posted a top-5 while landing in the top-10 just three times.
Gordon (four), Johnson (three) and Stewart (two) are the only drivers with multiple victories in 2007 that’s eligible to raise this year’s Cup. A victory in the LifeLock 400 by one of the three would strengthen their chances of winning the championship and could build your bankroll.
Kyle Busch will begin this weekend’s race being fifth in points. He has collected only one top-10 at Kansas and has a dismal 21.7 average of finish there.
Only 18 points separates the top-6 positions and it’s anyone’s shot at the Cup. The action is fast-and-furious. Be sure to checkout all the NASCAR odds and the head-to-head matchups weekly. It’s a great way to fulfill your need for speed.
