HANDICAPPING 2021 NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FUTURES
Looking for 2021 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines & Expert Picks? The cancellation of the 2020 Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament was a major disappointment for futures bettors holding on to lucrative tickets on teams who’d established dominance during the regular season and into the early stages of conference tournaments. Nevertheless, we’ll never know how that tournament would have played out, but we can look forward to the 2021 tournament. Odds were recently released for 2021, so it’s time to start our search for value in next year’s tournament odds.
Here’s a look at 10 teams that stand out on the 2021 futures board in college hoops.
Handicapping 2021 College Basketball Futures Odds
2021 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: Virginia Cavaliers +900
Virginia’s season could best be described as disappointing, but the Cavaliers were really heating up towards the end of the campaign, ending with eight straight victories.
Their roster losses aren’t significant, and larger roles and continued development from the likes of Kihei Clark and particularly Jay Huff, who could take a major step forward in 2020-21, coupled with a projected top-10 recruiting class and Tony Bennett’s usual wizardry in the transfer portal have the Cavaliers installed as co-favorites.
This program is technically still the defending national champion.
2020 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: Gonzaga Bulldogs +900
No team in the country should feel more slighted by losing out on the crowning of a 2020 champions than Gonzaga.
But Filip Petrusev will return, along with the addition of five-star commit Jalen Suggs as part of a top-10 recruiting class, and that has the Bulldogs slotted in as co-favorites alongside the Cavaliers.
2021 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: Kansas Jayhawks +1000
Kansas loses a pair of stars in Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubuike, but as usual, the Jayhawks will still field one of the most talented teams in the country in 2021.
Marcus Garrett, a second-team All-Big 12 selection slides in as the team’s starting point guard, and five-star guard Bryce Thompson headlines a top-10 recruiting class.
2020 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: Kentucky Wildcats+1200
Should Immanuel Quickley elect to return to Lexington for another year in blue, Kentucky could provide the best value on the futures board.
John Calipari’s once again lined up the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class including Terrence Clarke, BJ Boston, and five-star point guard Devin Askew.
2021 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: Duke Blue Devils +1400
Duke will welcome the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation – a group that includes four five-star recruits. With the likely departures of players like Tre Jones and Vernon Carey Jr., it’s important for head coach Mike Krzyzewski to continue attracting top talent to Durham, and that’s what he’s done once again.
2021 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: Creighton Bluejays +1400
None of the Bluejays’ top seven players based on minutes played were seniors, so expect a litany of top-end returning talent for Creighton once the college basketball schedule gets underway.
The team is also adding into the fold Memphis transfer Antwann Jones, and top-100 prospect Ryan Kalkbrenner – a 6-foot-11 center who’s one of the highest-ranked commitments the program’s ever secured.
2021 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: Baylor Bears +1600
Another team whose position would improve dramatically depending on some stay-or-go decisions is Baylor, who could be the preseason No. 1 should Jared Butler hang around another year.
The team finished 26-4 and were headed for a No. 1 or 2 seed in the tourney. Kansas remains in their path, but that also means they’re likely to avoid the Jayhawks in their region. The Bears are slated to add a pair of top-100 recruits to add depth to an already talented roster.
2021 College Basketball Championship Futures Betting Lines: North Carolina Tar Heels +2000
While in-state rival Duke welcomes the nation’s No. 2-ranked recruiting class, the third-ranked freshman corps belongs to the Tar Heels.
This past season was an incredibly disappointing one for North Carolina, which had high hopes with the addition of Cole Anthony, but with Anthony surely off to the NBA as a lottery pick, this year’s crop of talent in Chapel Hill will be much deeper, led by returning standout Garrison Brooks.
Three five-star recruits headline the class, including the No. 2 point guard in the country, Caleb Love.
