Event: UFC 284: Makhachev vs. Volkanovski
Date: February 11th, 2023
Time: Main Card: 10:00 P.M. EST.
Location: RAC Arena, Perth, Austrailia
Free UFC 284 Pick: Islam Makhachev -350 vs Alexander Volkanovski +275 (Bet Now!)
In the first true super-fight in the last couple years, the #1 P4P king, Alexander Volkanovski is moving up in weight to take on the newly crowned lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. For those who aren’t aware, Makhachev is childhood best friends with lightweight GOAT, Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov.
After flying through the division, and champion Charles Oliveira, Islam’s looking to add the P4P title to his wall of achievements as well. With that being said, he’s got a tough task in front of him, as Volk is undefeated in the UFC, and been a dominant featherweight champ for years now.
Many regarded Max Holloway as the greatest featherweight of all time, until Alex beat him 3 times in a row. Additionally, the world said Brian Ortega’s submission game would be to much for Volk, but yet he got out of every bad position in that fight, and won handily.
MMA Prediction: Volkanovski
Shockingly, this fight has a very lopsided line, therefore we have no choice but to take the underdog. Reasons being, he’s yet to lose in the UFC, and has proven his abilities time and time again, and against the very best in the world. While it’s no surprise that Islam is highly dominant, he’s yet to face the same competition night in, and night out.
Free UFC 284 Pick: Yair Rodriguez -163 vs Josh Emmett +130 (Bet Now!)
Due to the champion moving up in weight classes to go for double champ stardom, the UFC decided to let these two hungry contenders fight for the interim featherweight championship. The underdog, Josh Emmett(#5) is currently on an impressive 5 fight winning streak, and even won 7 out of his last 8 fights. During this run, Josh took down the likes of Calvin Kattar, Dan Ige, and Shane Burgos.
Regarding the favorite, Rodriguez begun his UFC career in a blaze of glory, knocking off 6 fighters in a row. However, he unfortunately ran into Frankie Edgar, who he lost to via doctor stoppage. Afterwards, he splendidly won 3 out of 4 fights, but also gained a no-contest on his record due to an accidental eye poke to Jeremy Stephens.
MMA Prediction: Emmett
In what appears to be a razer close fight, we’re siding with the fighter who’s been more consistent, and has less controversy surrounding his fights. While Yair is a highly dangerous fighter, probably with more ways to win, he seems to falter against well rounded fighters, for example Max Holloway, and Frankie Edgar.
Free UFC 284 Pick: Jack Della Maddalena -333 vs Randy Brown +250 (Bet Now!)
Veteran, “Rudeboy” Randy Brown will be looking to spoil the hometown fighters hopes, and dreams of winning in his own country. The aforementioned fighter, Jack Della Maddalena, won his spot on the UFC roster by way of Dana Whites: Contender Series. Since then, he’s knocked out all 3 of the opponents matched up with him, including Danny Roberts.
On the flip, Randy Browns been apart of the promotion since 2016, and has fought a total of 14 times. Extravagantly, he’s won 10 out of those 14 fights, including his last 6 out of his last 7. Moreover, he’s won by submission 3 times, TKO twice, and 5 decisions.
MMA Prediction: Brown
Similar to the main event, we’re witnessing an extremely odd line, as Brown is the way more experienced fighter, who’s also on an winning streak. While I am highly impressed by Jack Della Maddalena, he’s not a proven fighter like “Rudeboy”.
All in all, we’re taking the underdog to win by unanimous decision, after showing the young buck what a high caliber UFC fighter feels like.
