Important to note, the first fight was highly contested, with many choosing Israel as the winner, even though Pereira won by split decision on the score cards.
As far as MMA is concerned, Alex Pereira’s starched some of the best up and coming fighters on his way to challenge for the gold. In his debut, he won via flying knee knockout, and in his last fight, he knocked out very durable Sean Strickland early in the fight.
On the flip, Adesanya’s lapped the division with pure extravagance, and is currently coming back for more hungry contenders. Considering these two’s history, look for Israel to take his opposition extremely seriously.

While the average joe see’s the two former losses and jump all over the contending underdog, we know better than that. Israel is way more experienced in the cage than Pereira, and proved to have his number in kickboxing, until a few very unlucky circumstances occurred.
Side with the current champ to weather the early storm and win in the later rounds, or via decision in the main event, Saturday night.

Not very often we witness a defending champion an underdog, especially a massive underdog. However, Esparza won the belt in the most lack-luster fight in Strawweight Championship history.
Former champ Rose Namajunas appeared to freeze up the entire fight, on route to one of the bigger title upsets in the promotion. Although important to note, Carla did hold a win over Rose prior to this fight as well.
Also adding to the giant betting odds, is the opponent is the highly performing former champ, Weili Zhang. She’s arguably the strongest, and most devastating woman in the division, with her only losses coming by Rose Namajunas and her MMA debut.
If you were a believer in mama math, you’d think cause Carla beat Rose, and Rose beat Zhang twice, she should win, right? No, never follow this formula, as styles make fights.

Considering the unrelentless style Zhang portrays and her extreme strength for the division, we’re expecting her to easily handle Carla’s wrestling, on route to reclaiming her title.

In the people’s main event of the night, we’re enlightened to witness two of the most exciting lightweights in the world, battle it out for a potential number one contender opportunity.
Both fighters unfortunately fell short in their last attempt at UFC gold, however by the hands of the former champion, Charles Oliveira.
With that being said, Islam Makhachaev now holds the crown, which opens up a door for either fighter to claim their spot for the next title fight.
Possibly benefiting Chandler, he’s stayed active and posted an incredible flash knockout against Tony Ferguson, while Poirier’s waited in the wings, not fighting since his title loss last December.
Regarding either fighter’s path to victory, Chandler must wrestle and stay out of the pocket with the amazing boxer, Dustin Poirier. Although, this may prove to be Chandlers downfall, as he’s not concerned of staying in range of strikers.
MMA Prediction: Dustin Poirier
All things considered, we’ve decided to side with Dustin Poirier to win by out boxing Michael Chandler and stuffing most of his takedown attempts in the process.
