Free UFC 272 Pick: Colby Covington -335 vs Jorge Masvidal +260 (Bet Now!)
For the main event of UFC 272, were enlightened to witness the most heated rivalry in all of combat sports history.
These foes were best friends, training partners, roommates, and even cornermen. However, tensions boiled over due to personal issues, and almost decade long best friends, turned bitter rivals.
Covington(#1) enters this bout after a second loss to current champion, Kamaru Usman. That being said, Colby’s been dominant against everyone, in almost every round, besides against Kamaru.
On his UFC run, Covington boasts a 11-3 record in the octagon, with 2 TKO’s, 2 submissions, and 7 dominant decisions. In addition, he captured the interim welterweight title and fought for the undisputed twice.
His opponent, Masvidal(#6) is a true legend of the sport, boasting 50 total fights in his career. Although, like his opponent, he comes off two losses at the hands of Usman.
If you were just looking at records, it’s easy to overlook Jorge, as he’s just 3-4 in his last 7 fights. However, his three recent wins are historical to say the least and followed two of the losses.
Moreover, on Masvidal’s legendary run, he knocked out up and coming British bruiser, Darren Till. After this fight in London, he captured the fastest knockout in UFC history, by knocking out Ben Askren in 5 seconds.
Furthermore, Jorge followed it up by capturing the “BMF” championship, after decimating Nate Diaz within 3 rounds.
MMA Prediction: Masvidal
It’s no surprise to anyone that Covington’s a statistical matchup nightmare for Jorge Masvidal. That being said, Colby’s appeared to steer away from his wrestling approach in his last few fights, and this may open up the opportunity for Jorge to score the knockout.
Moreover, according to reports, Colby consistently had the upper hand on Jorge in training. While many look at this as a solid reason to choose Covington, it may mean he’s over looking Jorge and possibly has unneeded confidence.
All things considered, give us the underdog to score the knockout on his over confident foe. Keep in mind while betting, scoring a KO is Masvidal’s ONLY path to victory.
Free UFC 272 Pick: Rafael Dos Anjos -165 vs Renato Moicano +145 (Bet Now!)
Grandly, Moicano(#NR) stepped in last second for Fiziev, who was forced to pull out of the fight, due to illness. However, many fight fans are further upset, as Islam Makhachev was rumored to be stepping in, not Renato Moicano.
That being said, this is an extremely dangerous matchup and situation for Dos Anjos(#6). Reasons being, Renato’s on a submitting streak and has looked unbeatable since his back to back KO losses in 2019.
Moreover, Moicano doesn’t possess a ranking, while Dos Anjos is ranked a top of the division. Meaning, he has everything to gain and nothing to lose stepping in on short notice.
Regarding Rafael, he’s only managed to win twice in his last six fights, and one was unfortunately a controversial, split decision over now retired, Paul Felder.
MMA Prediction: Moicano
All things considered, Moicano is the much more dangerous fighter at this point of their careers and on the more impressive run.
Furthermore, while Dos Anjos IS elite on the ground, I believe Renato Moicano will get the job done on the mat, before the end of the bell.
Free UFC 272 Pick: Edson Barboza +135 vs Bryce Mitchell -155 (Bet Now!)
Undefeated prospect, Bryce Mitchell(11th), officially enters the first big test of his career. His opponent, Edson Barboza(#10), possesses some of the most devastating Muay Thai in UFC history.
In his short career, Mitchell’s already in the UFC record books, as he’s only one of two people to land the very difficult, twister submission. This shocking feat, led to a performance of the night bonus, and a 2019 submission of the year award.
Regarding Barboza, at one time was a gatekeeper for the title, but now has fallen to gate keeper of the top ten. Additionally, he’s only captured two wins out of his last six fights and has been knocked out multiple times in this span.
Fair to note, two of his losses were via split decision, meaning he very well could be 4-2 instead of 2-4.
MMA Prediction: Mitchell
These styles of fights are always tough to predict, as each are dominant at their specialty, but can be shaky when they’re not. However, Bryce Mitchell has yet to lose, and Barboza appears to be on his way out of the UFC.
In conclusion, we believe Mitchell will pass the test with flying colors, and submit the deadly striker in the very first round.
